Neat Trick!

I went to the Gunshow, and priced "ranger plates" for Magpul. Nice, but a bit pricey compared with what I do with METAL mags.

Take zip ties, and paracord of your color choice, measure out enough paracord for the length of the zip ties. Take the inner strings out, put in the zip ties, and close it.

Viola! A loop that's a lil' thinner, doesn't come undone, and stays in a loop shape. Pop the bottom plates, put in the loop, replace plate, viola! A professional looking loop for your mags.

What's the point of the loops? I never really got em.

The loops help Jake when you have them in single mag pouches, and they're in there tight, or you have gloves on, or your hands are covered in slick stuff, easier to pull out of the pouch in a hurry.

I only carry 2 spare mags for my AR, in my rear pants pocket. If you can't get the job done in 30 rds, ferchissakes, you'd better be using solid cover. If you have the cover, then 1 second "lost" in swapping mags is nothing. 30 rds is a lot of missing, and if you hit 5-6 of the enemy, you will have done as much as any of the Medal Of Honor men have done (since the advent of the AK-47) Some got away with a lot more, when the enemy only had bolt actions, you see.

Suppressive fire is priceless. carry as much ammo as possible. Rambo is a fictitious character. You aren't going to take on 5-6 trained opposition by yourself and expect to live much less take them out with one magazine.

the guy to your left should be laying down suppressive fire while you take aimed shots:)

if the guy to your left is laying down good suppressive fire, there should be no targets available to take your aimed shots at. The targets should be hiding behind good cover.

true if facing opponents of equal intelligence/training. I expect I will either overwhelm the opponent easily or get my ass handed to me quickly by those better trained than me, rather than a prolonged engagement of equals.
