VSP Arrest Two Men in Franklin County Road Rage Shooting.

Two men face multiple charges tonight resulting from an early morning “road rage” incident in Franklin County.

The incident took place on Route 116, just north of Boonesmill Road, around 3 a.m. Saturday (April 28, 2012). A 2003 Acura coupe was traveling along Route 116 when it was shot at by individuals in a 2012 Volkswagen. The Volkswagen then fled the scene. No one in the Acura was injured in the shootings. At this stage of the investigation by Trooper R.D. Conley, it appears that the shooting was instigated by an aggressive driving incident between the two vehicles on Route 116.

Later Saturday afternoon (April 28, 2012), state police located and apprehended the Volkswagen’s driver and passenger. The driver, Eric M. Dillon, 24, of Lynchburg, was charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle and shooting from an occupied vehicle. Dillon was released on bond.

The passenger, Benjamin T. Wray, 22, of Roanoke, was also charged with shooting from an occupied vehicle, shooting into an occupied vehicle and for reckless handling of a firearm. Wray is being held at the Franklin County Jail on bond.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing at this time.

Why & how can people be so ignorant! There truly must be more to this than just aggressive driving. Maybe racing or an argument prior to driving. I cant see two people in one car getting annoyed by the driving of another car to the point they both can agree to chase the car down & open fire.

I hope this doesnt change open carry in vehicle laws.. or any kind of carry in vehicle laws for that matter.

I agree with you completely. However unlikely it is that these fools were in legal possession of firearms, crap like this makes it harder for responsible firearm owners to convince the antis of anything. They never understand that criminals don't obey laws!
