If you're wondering when to panic, we're almost there

Today's massive stock sell-off of everything from soup to nuts is a good indication of which direction the market is headed. Watch this one closely folks. Whatever happens, it's going to be historic.

I check getting text alerts like every hour and it was just going up and down back and forth. Crazy day.

Panic? If you have spare cash now is the time to buy. I still hate myself not buying Ford stock when it was just over ONE DOLLAR a share; about 10 months later it was $11.50 or so a share. Hovers around $10 now.

These irrational panic sell offs are a good thing for a buyer, take advantage of them!

I make a living working the stock market. As history shows, when everyone panics that's the time to buy. We are getting close to capitulation but aren't quite there yet.

Will someone please advise when the time to pounce has arrived? I watch madmoney from time to time and it seems to me that panic causes stimulation in the market itself. I'd love to have some tech stocks and oils. I think Jim would agree. I'll be watching. :coffee:

Be careful with MadMoney; there have been a few people that have created portfolios based on Jim's recommendations and the performance has been pretty ugly.

Remember he's an entertainer first and a stock guy second. He's sensational on air and has a mediocre track record. Remember when he said Bear Stearns was 100% safe only 4-5 trading days before it went under?

In general, anything you watch on CNBC should be taken with a grain of salt.

Anyone that can truly time the market is a psychic, a liar/inside trader, or someone trying to sell you some bogus info. It can't be done.

Best you can do is watch overall trends and wait until a stock gets to a price point you feel comfortable buying at in order to get a return. If you keep in mind markets have natural ups and downs you won't panic and can take advantage of those who do.

Oil (and good tech) stocks aren't likely to go into the bargain bin anytime soon.

Thank you for the info. I am at best, an interested potential stock investor. I have been watching oils and tech stocks for awhile now and have to agree with Kreutz that there is no such thing as a bargain oil or "good tech" stock. I do have to say though that the "booyeah" and big "moo" are pretty interesting though. I hear the callers saying certain stocks that almost surprise Jim, but I've also heard a few names being said over and over. I might have to put some money where my mouth is now. Thank you again.
