Re: Viriginia is really a gun hating state - here's why

I would have thought that up there in Roanoke, it would be easy to find a land-owning friend with a place to shoot, which eliminates the need for a range, lol. The thing with me, all I want to do, once or twice a month, is shoot off a box of shells in order to familiarize myself with my gun, and sta...

Re: Viriginia is really a gun hating state - here's why

Oh, by all means, Kreutz. I'd say petition on both a state and local level. I read the OP's commentary to be somewhat of a rallying cry, amongst other things. I also think that the OP makes a valid case in pointing out that a lack of shooting options is a subtle form of gun control. Sadly, I think t...

Re: Asked to leave Spotsylvania Towne Centre

Kinda makes you wonder if the mall isn't under new management, considering that they have just now said something to you.

Re: Self Defence options other than guns

Oh, btw... it was the superior officer that wanted me charged with concealing weapons, not the officer who originally pulled me over. He spoke well of me in court, and held me in high regard. However, if I had not had the baton, he would have never called his superior, and I would have driven off wi...

Re: Self Defence options other than guns

On the subject of folding knives, It is by belief that laws are in place that forbid you to conceal a blade that is longer than 4 inches. On the subject of extendable batons and fixed blades, let me relay a personal experience: Several years ago, I was pulled over by the local law enforcement. I had...

Re: Viriginia is really a gun hating state - here's why

A previous poster opined that the state has no obligation to set up firing ranges. I agree that the obligation does not exist. However, I still feel that it is worthwhile to petition for public ranges in state parks. The land exists on each park, and a range does not run contrary the mission stateme...

Re: Asked to leave Spotsylvania Towne Centre

Well, considering that the email address for the property management was posted above, I figured that I would give Mr. Gentry my reason for not doing business with his mall. This is what I wrote. Perhaps others could send a similar email? Mr. Gentry, It has come to my attention that your security te...

Re: craziness

No one said that he was convicted. He's still sitting in jail for defending his girlfriend and her children. What a crock.

Re: Things That Concern Me

If I had the money, those would be great options. As it is, though, the cost of memberships and the gas to get out there would make it a bit tough. However, I do appreciate the thought. The Marksmen looks like a great facility, but they didn't seem to be shotgun friendly. What I'm looking for is a p...

Re: News for you guys with pistol-carbine conversion kits...

Oh, holy crap. My brain hurts after reading this thread. That, of course, is the whole point of all these laws, to begin with; to confuse you with legal-eze, to the point that you are entirely discouraged from ever owning a gun to begin with.

Re: "Practical" Gun Control in VA

In many cases, I can fully understand why you can't shoot in your back yard, and it has to do with whatever is on the other side of the property line. I'm not too familiar with Chesterfield. I've driven through the county more times than I could count, and I may have even stopped for gas in that cou...

Re: Things That Concern Me

Right now, it seems that we have a Governor that has publicly declared that we all have the right to openly carry fire arms in state parks. http://www.gunrightsmedia.com/showthread.php?t=403217 The above is an old item, and I wasn't living here at the time, but I believe that the Attorney General th...

Re: "Practical" Gun Control in VA

Well, I just made a case, apparently at the same time you voiced your concern, for petitioning state parks to open firing ranges. But that's something that would take a while. I want to shoot now! I'm sitting here with a weapon that's never been fired. Should I need to defend myself, I'd like to be ...

Re: "Practical" Gun Control in VA

Hmm... I just posted a similar concern....

Incidentally, finding "a kid to pick up spent brass" is easy.... Just clean up after yourself, lol. I think that that would fall under "responsible gun ownership".

Things That Concern Me

For many years, I have been preaching that Americans not only have the right to keep and bear arms, but the responsibility to do so. Last week, I finally began to practice what I've been preaching all this time, and I have armed myself. And therein lies my concerns. Part of the reason that it took m...
