I just got back from voting. I was the 125th person to vote at my polling place. I guess we get the kind of elected officals we have because most people don't care enough to vote.

Voting legitimizes regimes.

Voting is consent.

I am going to sound pretty stupid then, I am guessing it was a primary where you were, locally we have a few folks running uncontested and 2 independents in the November elections, so we didn't even have anything going on. With 125 people at a polling place voting in what is basically a state or local election (depending on how you look at it) primary, you are doing pretty good.

You are right, anarchy would be so much better. If somebody, even a one-armed old man wanted to whip your butt he could, and there would be nobody to stop him.

Feel free to relocate you and yours to anyplace else where voting is forbidden. I can recommend several countries and as an added bonus I'll make sure weather is decent so you dont have to worry about some place like North Korea or Russia...

I can see both sides of the argument.

Voting allows you a voice, but if your voice is ignored by those whom you've voted to represent, What's the point?

Again, I want a "new coin". Tired of the rhetoric, and same old arguements between the two parties. "HEADS! YOU SUCK!" "NO TAILS! YOU SUCK!"

If I vote and those who vote more than me vote to TAKE from me, then what is my recourse? Grin and take it? Vote harder next time?

The "if you don't like it leave" rhetoric is great until you try it and your new country is invaded and occupied by a regime of "Well, actually you can't leave" types.

My "grand" plan is a work in progress. It involves not being a slave to your disgusting government, worshiping your corrupt system and its lunatical leaders and exercising my God-given right to self-determination.

Revealing details beyond that would likely be misconstrued or taken well out of context by present company... present company who worship the united state and its military occupation of my country.

Im the first to admit that our whole election system sucks and is in a poor state of repair however its currently the only one we have...not voting is consenting to the idiots that elect twits...

The alternative is voting for your own twit. Voting for a twit that can dupe you into thinking he isn't is still voting for a twit. Can anyone remember a politician that didn't end up bad?

Like Atlas Shugged? It'd be nice if productive Americans could organize as good as parasites.

Do not blame voting blame the consistant inaction of patriots slowly letting our country dictate how we educate and live. People have become too ignorant and lazy and will only act out of self interest instead of the countries interest becuase they have lost sight of the freedoms granted to them through the constitution. We have let that happen by not reinforcing what makes this country free and not taking action when the validity of that document and it's meaning are questioned. We need to educate people.

Freedom is popular when you realize what is means.

I can't believe we may actually be 'this close' to agreeing on something.

Voting is a treatment for a symptom. We need a cure for the disease. The cure is painful and could even kill the host - but it beats suffering 150 more years of this so-called "freedom".

The cure is simple, but very painfull for a lot of americans. STOP with all the hand out programs. instead of welfare put them to work. give small companies a tax break if they increase the number of employees by 10% a month for 12 months. to many people or willing to live off hand outs and not work. any government programs we have should be to train people to obtain more skills which will lead to better jobs and more taxes collected.
