but we all should believe in common sense, reasonable gun control laws
And there it is. As predictable as sunrise.

EVERYTIME! LIKE CLOCK WORK!
"Common Sense" says "there are criminals afoot, I should stay out of that area. However, if they decide to traverse into my community, I should arm myself to protect me, my family, and my property."
"Reasonable Gun Control Laws" would be they have serial numbers, and "Crazies/Criminals" Check... there ya' go. That's it.
No special paperwork, no ATF tax stamp, no restrictions, no "patchwork" of rules.
You gotta gun? You a legal citizen? You're a'ight.

Typical left wing BS. They think that somehow they can legislate away crime by legislating away the ability to have a gun. Work on cleaning up your neighborhoods sir, then perhaps there won't be such bad places to be at 1 am.

I think the officer was definitely in the wrong by the way he approached this. Since there was two of them, I would have thought that one of them would have approached the driver first. But on the other hand, it seems almost certain that some kind of illegal activity was in progress too. Makes for a scary situation for all concerned.

I dont see where the guy did anuthing the officer should be scared about. The guy tried to tell him several times. The officer should fired.

I don't think that the driver did do anything wrong and I believe that he did in fact try to tell the officer he was carrying. What I am saying, is that the police officers pulled up behind a car that had one person in the drivers seat, one person in the back seat, and a lady outside the car. This in my opinion created a situation where there was a potential for a really bad situation. I have known police officers that made, what was supposed to be, a routine traffic stop and then got shot at or even worse, shot and/or killed.
Did the police officer handle the situation wrong? Yes, I believe that he did. Should he get fired? Maybe. I wonder if he ran the plates on the car before he got out of the car. I have been pulled over twice by VA State Police and both times when they approached, they asked if I was carrying my weapon and they were always at the ready. I can't say that I blame them either. So I wonder, does police in Ohio run plates before they approach the driver? If they had, then the officer, if Ohio does the same as Virginia, would have approached the driver first (I would think anyway.)

So the cop should get fired "maybe?" Did you watch the video? The cop threatened to kill the guy. I think he should go to prison...period. So, tell me...why should police treat citizens with a CHP who have undergone background investigations and approved by the court to carry a gun be approached like criminals? The simple fact that a few deviants choose to shoot cops make them do this...the simple fact that a few deviant cops act like this one did should cause all of us to bristle at ANY encounter with LE. Make sense? You dont...
So, the so called councilman said:
"These laws that allow our citizens to carry a concealed weapon...in the worst part of our neighborhoods, where there’s high crime, drugs, prostitution and someone is packing a Ruger at 1:30 in the morning…. That’s not acceptable in our society."
Well, mr ignorant twit stupid moron dweeb councilman...do you think that criminals make sure they have a concealed permit before they carry in those or any other part of your not so pristine little town?

I think he should get on the stick and propose passing a law to make all criminal behavior illegal. That should fix it.

Yes I did watch the video, but I am not sure that I heard the officer threaten the guy with death. I did hear a lot of threats given out by the officer.
I am not saying that I totally disagree with your views. Certainly some kind of punishment must be given the Officer. Whether it is a suspension, being fired, or being arrested for making threats. I also believe that the LE community must better screen and train their officers better in handling these types of situations. Specially when so many states allow it's citizens to legally carry.
As to being approached by LE, I honestly didn't feel like I was being approached like a criminal the two times I was stopped. And I don't take objection to them being cautious, I would be too. Both times I was stopped the officers were polite and respectful. If this had happened to me, you can be sure that I would have followed up on it by any legal means possible. I believe in our right to bear arms, but I also believe that we have a responsibility in doing so.
As for your comment concerning the councilman, I totally agree. It's not the honest Americans that they need to watch for, but the criminals that get guns on the black market and theft!

So the cop should get fired "maybe?" Did you watch the video? The cop threatened to murder the guy.
Fixed it for you. In no way would he have been justified in using lethal force, that's murder.

The officer went back to the car and made a comment that he should have unloaded on him as soon as he saw the bulge. I'm paraphrasing, but the intention was very clear.

I missed it I guess. Will have to go and look at it again. Thanks gunderwood.

Okay, should have watched it all the way through. This officer was most certainly in the wrong for conveying that threat and should be not only fired, but arrested and thrown in Jail.

I believe the cop said something to the effect of 'as soon as I saw your gun I should have taken 2 steps back, drew my glock, and put 10 rounds in you. I would lose no sleep. And that guy over there (other cop) is my witness...' -- kudos to the citizen who replied 'yes sir' -- not sure I could have done that...
Anyone defending the actions of this poor excuse for a human being in even the remotest darkest light is as bad as he is...
