Sheriff: Dead motel robber was going to rape clerk

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - A man is dead after the motel clerk he tried to sexually assault and rob early Monday morning fought back and killed him, deputies said.

This article has SO MANY EXAMPLES of the reasons why we say women need to arm themselves that it should be required reading for any and all that think that firearms for personal protection are unnecessary.

Good for her and with a .22 even. Goes to show ya what those little things can do. Put down a great big thug. Glad to hear she is physically ok. Only hope she recovers mentally from the assault and being forced to kill a criminal.

All you small caliber nay sayers need to take heed. Many defensive situations are likely to be like this...point blank or close...shot placement...

And for those of you who think a .22 caliber pea shooter won't do any damage... That's a pretty big dude that got taken down by one.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Carson died from a single gunshot to the chest.

I meant what inside of said chest did it hit.

wonder if she'll be fired from Days Inn, seems to be the norm for employees of corporations protecting themselves.

She was granted permission to carry so hopefully she isn't.

Usually a worker who uses a firearm in self defense is only fired if he or she violated a no-firearms policy.

This also shows that no pistol not even the lowly .22 can be used in an irresponsible manner.

It's good to see some positive news about the right to carry for a change.
