Video-Ohio LEO threatens to kill CCer

The dash cam video is now on YouTube of an incident that occurred in Canton, Oh last month.
Ohio has a mandatory inform law that requires that a person that has a CHL and is armed MUST immediately inform an LEO if he is stopped for any law enforcement purpose.
These cops didn't allow the driver, who has an Ohio CHL and was armed, to inform them.

Here's the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kassP7zI0qc

There are two threads on the OFCC forums WRT this case.
One announcing that it happened and that the video would soon be published. (the first post explains the case and was posted by the driver's attorney.)

And the post video publication discussion thread:

Makes one's blood run cold. I hope this officer is taken off the streets and soon. Threatening to execute the man and then have his partner lie about it! My GOD, we do not need criminals as the police officers. Police officers do not need him as another reason to mistrust them as they do a really hard job.

Related question:
We don't have to notify here. But I had always planned to just to keep everything on the up and up if I was ever pulled over (has not happened in years I don't speed and I try hard to do everything 100% kosher). "Hello officer I have my concealed carry license and I am carrying concealed today." In light of this video is that still a wise choice?

Any judge with half a brain can see the officer was out of control. So if this goes to court, I'd say the driver has a 30% chance of winning.

When I first began carrying I was of the same mindset. Over the past couple of years I have slowly come around to understand that, depending on the circumstances, it's in my best interest to cooperate while saying as little as possible.

The Canton PD respond on their FaceBook page:
http://www.facebook.com/CantonPD?ref=ts
I want to assure our citizens that the behavior, as demonstrated in this video, is wholly unacceptable and in complete contradiction to the professional standards we demand of our officers. As such, appropriate steps were placed in motion as dictated by our standards, policies and contractual obligations. Those steps included: The officer immediately being relieved of all duty. The incident has been referred to the Internal Affairs Bureau for what will be a complete and thorough investigation. As bad as the video indicates our officer's actions were, there is a due process procedure to follow. That process is designed in the best interest of both our employees and the citizens at large. That process will be followed in this case as in all others. Anyone shown to be in violation of our rules and regulations will be help appropriately responsible as dictated by all the facts. ~Chief Dean McKimm

Interesting---apparently according to a few people that posted on that page the Police Department attempted to have the video sealed in return for dropping the charges against the man. Hmmmmm I smell a really big civil liberties law suit.

I am no lawyer but, How much money does Canton PD have? This officer was representing not only the Police Department but the entire city of Canton OH. Oh and I almost forgot that once he gets Canton PD and Canton OH.'s money then comes the civil suite against the individual.
This cop threatened the driver with execuction by putting 10 .40SW bullets in him.

Man, I felt so bad for that guy while watching the video. That cop was one of the biggest male organs I've ever seen.

This is uncomfortably close to the truth.

In most cases that come to light where the police actually murder the citizen, like the recent Guerena incident, they get off scot free. Since no one was even shot here, the odds are this officer will get a few days or weeks off and then resume his duties brutalizing the public.

I find it funny that over at the Ohio CC forum (which has quite a few LEOs posting), one individual commented early on that this officer was done. Either he would get fired after it ran its course, or the the cop would get some kind of "medical" out. The cop was put on administrative leave, but has now taken a medical leave of absence.

And The Canton PD Facebook has been taken down. Guess they were getting top much hate mail, lol

Also, just got this of their website:
UPDATE 7/22/2011: Canton Police announced Thursday that the officer was relieved of all duties in June following an internal investigation complaint filed in this matter. The local Canton Repository has done some additional investigatory work into the officers and an excellent analysis of the video / audio we posted. The video and story has gone both viral and national crossing over to websites not typically affiliated with the pro-gun movement. Shortly after 7:00pm Thursday our website could no longer handle the volume of visitors we were receiving. We promptly quadrupled the resources behind OhioCCW.org in light of the popularity of this story.

My favorite part is when the cop leaves the gun on the trunk of the car to go yell at this poor guy. Great way to stay on task and keep the publics safety first. This ex cop is a shipdit!

Holy crap! Who trains these guys - the Gestapo?

The guy getting detained was well mannered and completely non-threatening. I couldn't imagine a worse overreaction by a cop. Well, I guess the cop could have actually shot him instead of just threatening to do.
The cop will probably lose his job, but can you imagine the charges had the citizen spoken that way to the cop?

Realizing that all LEO arent like this should be immaterial to us...it is to the LEOs...virtually every encounter with a citizen is treated as a hostile situation...in other words they view every call or stop as a threat...why? because there are a few out there that give doubt...same should apply to us...every encounter with LE is a threat due to the 10% club of buttholes like this...the bad LEOs dont wear a sign the same as bad citizens...just sayin...

Sorry to bring back an old topic but that officer did not act professional at all, threatening to "execute" the guy?
