Any HAM radio operators out there? Callsign? Care to discuss your use of HAM now and when the SHTF?

I almost got into to HAM even prepped for the test but in the end decided the last thing I needed was another hobby. Maybe I'll reconsider in the future.

If SHTF includes any aspect of "resistance" to it (other thread that I suspect spawned this one), standard HAM techniques will be useless. That's if you don't want to die.

What you must have is Near Vertical Incident Skywave (NVIS) and a really tight CONOPS. You can not leave it up (it's obvious what it is!), transmit for too long or repeatedly from the same location, etc. It's not fool proof, but it's as good as it gets.
