Now this guy has a novel idea. Tax the bullets at $1.00 a pop, so the criminals and bad guys can't afford to buy ammo - like an armed robber cares if the ammo in his magazine costs $10 - $20 more. Of course, when such didn't work 'cuz everone would buy ammo outside Baltimore, he would want to have the tax be state wide; and when that didn't work, he would place the blame on Virginia for not having such a tax, 'cuz all the budget minded shooters in Maryland would be buying ammo in Virginia.

Lest I forget, he is a former "Planning Director" and a "Democrat". Is he a tool, fool, idealogue, left-winger, idiot or just dangerous. My vote is for all of the above.

When I read the poll associated with the article, the results were 4% for and 96% against it being 'part of an effective plan' - whatever effective plan means.

Guess he thinks that "shall not be infringed" phrase can be "nuanced" out of existence.

Been thought of and tried before and I seem to remember a court case that said "not allowed." Can't remember it off the top of my head.

If bad guys can afford to pay black market prices for weapons they can certainly afford ammo too...any such tax would only serve to make this a hotter BM item...

Your average street thug doesn't exactly practice with his piece. It's not unknown for stolen guns to be recovered years later with the same load of ammo in them as when they were stolen - intimidation is often enough. Even in shootouts, how much ammo do the bad guys expend? A couple of mag's worth? If they even have spare mags. Mountains of weapons and ammo in criminal lairs may be the norm in Mexico, but it's not here.

This proposal is aimed at us, the ones who go through large amounts of ammo practicing and plinking, not at the criminal element.

Precisely...we all know that all gun or ammo control is aimed at us...merely making an observation...
