While the story at the end of the link shows the damage done by a Speer Gold Dot 9mm rd. It is a sad story with several lessons throughout it and should never have happened.

Based on the poor guy's account at least he got a free gun...great attitude to have after being shot by your buddy...does no good to angry in a situation like that...just breeds more anger and more hurt...kudos to him and shame on his buddy...

It's a much different military now apparently. In my day there would have been an immediate court martial, dishonorable discharge and fort leavenworth. I'm glad that he's ok and he had his wife with him. Let alone the fact she just completed her CLS classes. Sounds almost like destiny to me. Thanks for the post.

And they say 9mm is a weak defensive round.

That is definitely a tragedy. It is good that the guy is sharing his story though.
