Trying to make a decision on a new 9mm handgun.
I like the Beretta PX4 Full, the PX4 Compact (Not the subcompact), the CZ SP01 Phantom and the FNX-9.
Any recommendations or horror stories or positive experiences?

I was able to test fire a PX4 Full and hit the target center right away and really like the gun. I have not been able to test fire the CZ or the FNX/FNP. I read that the Phantom will be more accurate.

I am leaning toward the PX4 compact, but am concerned I might lose accuracy with the shorter barrel. (It's only .4oz lighter, so I don't think weight will be a factor.)

I have the PX4 subcompact and I love it. I also have the Cougar with the rotary barrel which the Px full-size has as well. It is an amazing setup and reduces felt recoil. Accuracy is really good!

You can't go wrong with the Beretta!

I heard that the FNX has a raised bump on the front that tends to get caught on pouches sometimes.

Well, I decided on the FNX-9 anyway. Here is why:

Beretta PX4: The safety levers are flanged out and they are right at the top rear of the action...right in the way of pulling the action back from the rear. I like everything else about the gun: aim, accuracy, trigger pull, slightly lower recoil. I don't like the subcompact because they changed the barrel design. I might like the gun without a safety/decocker. I was at the gun show and the Stoegger looks almost exactly like the PX4 except with a full metal frame.

The Cz Phantom looks like a great handgun and feels great, but it is a full 8" in length, although still pretty lightweight. The height is also very tall. It was just too big of a gun. I may go buy one of the Phantom's at some point or the Cz 75b, which I heard is the best 9mm there is next to a Sig226 or 1911.

So, the FNX seemed like the right fit. Breakdown on the FNX is sweeeet and easy. I only have two complaints: The DA trigger has a little crunch in the beginning...not a big deal because you normally only have to pull it once. My girlfriend also complained that the DA trigger is hard to pull, but didn't bother me. The action release is small and kinda hard to push down, depending on the gun. (Easy enough just to pull back the action anyway) The SA trigger pull is fantastic... although still getting used to it. Accuracy is spot-on, and has handled all ammo I sent through it. Three mags come with it standard, but I would like to have a loading tool to push down the bullets in the magazine when you get beyond about 6 bullets...good springs in the magazines. Hammer is easy to pull down manually. It's a great looking gun too, especially with stainless.

I highly recommend the FNX-9. I probably paid more than necessary at Virginia Arms, as I found it for $75 cheaper at a gun show new.
