Stopped by Dick's in Fair Lakes this morning. They have plenty of .223 very reasonably priced. Many 20 count boxes and several 200 bulk packs. Also plenty of .45 ACP, .44mag, and .40 all at very decent prices. Almost all the handgun ammo was 50 count boxes. I think they have a 5 box limit on the handgun stuff. They also have the Remington Pardner on sale for $199. Only one of those left when I walked out with mine tucked firmly under an arm

Looking for Winchester WB 45 cal 230 grain. Did Not have it.
Some other brand of 45 for $69! a box. I did not see if it was more than 100 rounds but it was a box bigger than 50.

Dicks in Spotsylvania Mall has ammo as well. 9MM Wolf, lots of .40 Cal. Plenty of .223. They have a 3 box limit, so take a friend!
They also had a nice Benelli 12ga defense shotgun on sale that I wanted, but had to pass since I just bought a Mossberg and the CFO wouldn't have appreciated it much.

Stopped by Dick's (Fair Lakes) purchased a box of 250/rds of UltraMax 9mm for $70; absolutely the worse ammo I have ever shot. It was "re-manufactured" ammo (if someone could explain "re-load" versus "re-manufactured" to me that would be great); shot extremely smokey, the groups were less than normal - unsure if it was ammo, or user-error as I was making adjustments for the smokey conditions (switched range glasses, etc).
Back-Ordered ammo is the norm for most on-line vendors (I am waiting on Cabela's for 20boxes of Federal FMJ - due 15Aug2009) - only good thing here is that they do honor the at then (date of purchase) prices.
After the above incident with the UltraMax, burned through a large cigar sitting on the deck cleaning the SIG afterwards. This was by far the worse, smokey-ess, and dirty ammo I have every shot.
