This photo gives me chills! This was outside my old hometown in NY. Someone told me about 1900 motorcycles showed up!

Flags were raised high as the Patriot Guard Riders took their places in front of their motorcycles to shield U.S. Army Sgt. Devin Snyder's funeral from threatened protests on Saturday morning.

Rumored sightings of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., turned out to be false, Lt. Rick Oyer of the New York State Police confirmed.

The church group, which believes the death of U.S. troops is God's punishment for America's acceptance of homosexuality, had stated on its website it would picket the funeral.

Snyder's family requested the presence of the motorcycle group the Patriot Guard Riders at the funeral to be a shield against the church's threatened protest. The motorcycle group's mission is "standing for those who stood for us."

We cant focus on stickin it to anyone...we collectively have enough trouble sticking together and thats what things like this are about...

If the church is stating where they should be protesting at they should start doing this form of blocking them more often.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for posting this. I heard about the church group - they were even mentioned in a fiction book I read. Guess my information was outdated as I thought their lunacy was confided to the Midwest. I'm a bit surprised to see them showing up - or threatening the same in WNY.

My sister posted something on this (my father's family is entrenched in the Hornell area), but I never got a chance to check it out.

I'm glad to see such an outstanding show of support for our fallen warriors.

Andy
