Apparently in the UK a young woman is expected to submit to a rape rather than fight back. Think of how WW II might have turned out for Britain had they had this attitude back in the 1940s.

A TERRIFIED teenage girl has been fined #500 for knocking unconscious a masked stranger who stalked her home from a nightclub in what lawyers have called an "exceptional" case.

Claire Burleigh, 19, was pounced on by Sean Docherty, 43, as she was about to open the door of her Bathgate home, Livingston Sheriff Court heard yesterday.

She neutralized the threat and then continued to bludgeon the person.

Every one of us knows that you shoot until the threat is neutralized and not one shot more.

While I sympathize with this young woman having faced the worst nightmare of nearly every young woman - she should not have continued to repeatedly and violently kick the chav in the head AFTER he was rendered unconscious.

I agree, but in the heat of the moment I consider it a forgivable mistake.

She would have been fine if she called the police after he went unconscious. I'm sure she was still hysterical so wasn't thinking rational.
However, the fact that the initial aggressor is getting off without charges is more ridiculous.

Seems like there's always more to the story...

Letting the aggressor off scot free(pun intended) still doest't fly though.

Police later found Docherty in a nearby street with severe facial injuries and called an ambulance to take him to hospital. They also recovered a balaclava from the scene of the assault.

Doesn't sound like she neutralized the threat, he was found in a nearby street, not at the scene. Sounds to me like he was still moving.

Why did they just stand there and watch??? Why didn't someone step in and help the girl when it first happened? I wouldn't exactly call those credible witnesses if all they do is stand there while a girl is almost raped.

And where is the so called boyfriend? Sounds like someone needs to be dumped.

It's too bad we can't hold police to this standard!
