I am considered a Novice when it comes to handguns and I just bought a Beretta92FS and I wanted to know what is the best way for me to get "Properly Trained"? Can anyone suggest and books that are available?

You can view online discussions about the weapon you purchased or actually visit a local range. If the range has a range official onsite you can ask them to help you get the feel of your gun. The best way to start a gun relationship, imho, is to talk to people that have that particular gun and get some feedback as far as pros and cons. The berretta is a good gun, very reliable and has a good weight. Study the site lines of your gun at the range and dry fire as much as is necessary for you to get the point of fire. You would benefit from a class for concealed carry also because they will require you to prove your skills. The class time alone is worth the cost of the class in most cases. Good luck with your new gun, and keep em' in the 10 ring! :pistol:

There are several banner ads rotating at the top of the site offering training from online to instructor-led classroom, to instructor-led classroom with range time. Click a couple of them and read up on the training they offer. All of them are local to Virginia.

I would say that the best way is private lessons with a qualified instructor.

I don't know where you are located, but I'd be happy to assist.

from what I hear the best way to get trained is to join the marines.

nope... just a squid with good friends and relatives. I learned how not to get sucked into a jet intake or fall off an aircraft carrier LOL.

I would encourage you to take live fire lessons. Nothing replaces experience, least of all reading a book on how to shoot.

Forgot to add, if you sign up for a class, your local gun shop could recommend a course to suite your needs and budget. Good luck!
