I always figured there was no way he would be taken alive. Whoever found him would have "accidentally" dumped their magazine into him when they realized who he was.

I expect that he has already been replaced - he was just a figure head. I'm sure our illustrious government will come up with some reason we have to keep our service members over there "just a little longer."
