Does anyone belong to the Isaac Walton League and use any of their campgrounds and shooting ranges?
We are thinking about joining the one near Lynchburg.
Does membership in one club allow access to other clubs?
$185/yr membership for family
$7/night for campsight w/ water and 30 amp electric
$30/person/yr for range membership
Thanks

I just joined the Winchester Chapter and was told that it doesn't cover other chapters. I've only used the range a hand full of times, but so far pretty safe and professional all around.

My son and daughter have shot on their ranges as junior guest a few times. Very nice folks.

I've been granted 'member' pricing for shooting skeet/trap on other IWLA ranges, but I've always had to be the guest of a member.

Hope you joined by now ! The Izaak Walton League of Lynchburg had an Open House on Aug. 28, also gave away a FREE membership that day, had several subguns on the Range, $10 a mag and hose away !
Also, if you join now, we give you the rest of 2011 for free when you pay for 2012. Less than 4 bucks a week. Fishing lake, swimming lake, clubhouse, trap and skeet, 300 yard rfle range, 50 meter pistol range, cheap camping.
Check us out at IWLL.org on the web, call me at 434-821-4175 with questions or if you want to tour the facility. Also, all shooting events are open to the General Public.
I believe we allow any Ike passing through to camp at Park rates. Range access would have to be as guest of a local, as we require Range members to attend a Range orientation class.

There seems to be one in Roanoke
https://sites.google.com/site/roanokevalleychapter/home but not sure exactly where. The 'about us" part says something about Willow Branch Creek, never heard of it.

I have been there and the range is not bad. Best way I know to describe it is between Clearbrook and Boones Mill. I have been from both there but it easier to get to from 220 just north of Boones Mill.
Hope that helps some.

I received a blanket e-mail response addressed to several people indicating interest in joining.
I replied that I was still interested.
That was over a month ago.
Stonewalling e-mails is just pure arrogance!

Thats not that far from me, I take my kid horseback riding in Boones Mill anyway, and any excuse to stop at the Hillbilly Shak is a welcome one.
I'll have to contact them, thanks for bringing this up, I forgot about it.

i'm curious about Issak Walton in the Warrenton Area... There's the one in Centreville, the one in Prince William, and the one in Fredericksburg that aren't too far from me. the main thing i would be interested in is the range. open on weekends? longest range? the websites don't give up much info...

Ran into a slight snag, see you have to be a member and in order to do so need someone to sponsor you. Not knowing anyone there thats not going to happen so do they have guest/day passes? Thanks.

I've been to the Centreville one as a guest before. I believe you need to be with a member to get a guest pass. the one in Fredricksburg states that they require sponsorship on the website but the rest didn't. is that a standard Izaak Walton thing?

Rules vary from club to club.
The Christiansburg, Montgomery Co. Chapter requires a membership but once a member you can bring guests.

I believe sponsorship is generally required.
For sure at the Rap/Spottsylvania, Alexandria and 2 other Md Chapters I know of.

If you look at the map for the Roanoke Chapter go west to where interstate 81 and Den Hill Road cross. That's real close to the Christiansburg Club.
It's not hard to get a sponsor.

For some reason the Christiansburg site is not working, trying to look into it.

Still working on it. May have to put the site back up myself.
