Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with WOLF Ammo.
I received the new Shooters Catalog from the Sportsman's Guide today.
They have Wolf 9mm 115-gr. FMJ ammo for $19.79/100 if you buy 500 rounds.
That includes shipping.
Sounds like a good deal to me.
Is it?

I usually shoot it in 7.62x39 and .45ACP (mostly the Ulyanovsk brand, which is one of the factories that supplies Wolf). The 7.62 has all been good, the .45 sometimes has issues but I'm not sure if those are gun/mag issues or ammo issues.

The 9mm is probably fine but you can still get GECO brass cased Nato-spec for about the same price if you look.

It's generally very dirty so your going to spend some time cleaning. The steel case isn't an issue if you don't reload.

The old lacquer coated stuff was much less great. The newer polymer stuff is much better.

Still a bit dirtier than some of the US brands, but fine training/plinking ammo.

Thats been my experience with wolf ammo.

I have shot the wolf brand 9mm ammo in my pt 709 slim. It functioned flawlessly and I had no ftf or fte. Get some, that's a price that's hard to beat esp. if your just target practicing. Then get some good stuff for carry!

I use Wolf in my 9MM, SKS & AR-15. The only problem child is the AR. I find I can fire about 60 rounds then I have to let the carbine sit for about 10 minutes. Otherwise I get a case that won't eject.

The poly coat on the SKS ammo makes those stripper clips useful.

I got a tricked 10/22 that loves Wolf Match...pretty much puts them all in the same hole at 50 yards. I have trouble doing that with other match brands.

I've shot a couple of thousand rounds through my M1911 .45ACPs with no serious problems. I occasionally get a FTF, about 1 in 500 rounds or so. I don't find it any dirtier than other bargain rounds. I wouldn't use it as a defensive round, but for practice Wolf works fine.

I buy Wolf 7.62 x 39 by the case. It will absolutely filthify an AK but never had a problem with the ammo.

Yes, Wolf ammo tends to be dirty. But it works fine.

However, note that several indoor ranges do not allow Wolf, Tula, Ulyanovsk, RMS, or any other brand of ammo whose bullets have steel in them, due to spark danger and unburnt powder residue on the range floor. This includes not just steel in the core, but also so-called "bimetal" jackets. The "bimetal" jackets are really copper-washed steel.

I have never had an issue with it. I ran 200 rds through my AR last week and roughly 130 through my Glock. The AR hasn't been cleaned since February/March and has seen the better part of 1500 rounds. The Glock hasn't been cleaned since May, and it has seen the better part of 800 rounds. No issues to report on either. The bullets hit where the front sight was aimed. Neither weapon is showing excessive dirtiness.

I am running them until I have an issue. Just curious to see how long it will be.

My SKS eats the wolf and bear ammo for Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Snack, Supper and asks for a secon helping. A good cleaning is required after a good day out shooting though as it will dirty a rifle.

I love Wolf .22 Match ammo, but it's not in the same league as it's not really made by them. Their other centerfire ammo is decent for plinking ammo, but it's dirty, and not anything special.

Wolf ammo in my P89 groups better than anything else, not what I would carry for defensive use but at the range it works well. It doesn't do so well in my other handguns though.

I've shot thousands of rounds of it through my AK and AR's, it's been great for me.

it can jam up your gun pretty good if they get to hot in the chamber and they are horrible on your extractor

I, and my Saiga, prefer Golden Tiger in 7.62x39, but Tulammo and Wolf (same thing apparently) work in it. My CZ-75 shoots Tulammo as well. It is very dirty, but it's inexpensive zombie ammo.

I'm starting my third case of thousand rounds of 7.62 NATO in my AR10.
Have not noticed any down side.
I use it for plinking at the 300 and 400 yard gongs. If there'a miss it's the guy behind the rifle.

Op-- just a heads up but my local walmart has federal red box 9mm for $19.97 for hundred round bulk packs. This is a much better (brass cased) ammo than wolf IMO
