So I gotta ask...

... how many 1911's must one own before it can be considered a fetish?
I just picked up another Rock Island today. Now I have two Rock Islands (a full size and an officer model) and two Springfields (a full size and a Champion). Of course, I keep reminding myself that two of these are hubby's guns (just like some of the wheel guns are his... technically...

).
I'm going to have to buy a safe just for 1911's at this rate.

I think the answer is easy... How many different versions of the 1911 have they made? If you can shoot with both hands double that number

Judy, we all know that your husband think's that he own's a few 1911's but we all know the truth. You are the owner and YOU can never owen enough of them.
I had the real 1911 that my Dad carried in WW ll and then in Korea and then I had it during Viet Nam. I have since passed it to my youngest son who is still in the Marine Corp's Reserve as a Staff Sgt.
If he ever has to go back to the sand pit I hope it will serve him as well as it did both my Dad and me.

I don't think I'll ever have enough of them to do me. Does that do it?
But if it's a set number, we might all have a problem getting there; because I'm having trouble finding what I want in the hands of somebody who wants to sell it. Just last week got told that the Ed Brown Custom Classic I was expecting about now won't show untill July 4 or so. So I've been looking for some other custom/customized 1911 to acquire in the interim. Everybody's advertising them; Relatively few ain't peddling off an empty wagon. 'Course, there are very few good gunshops close to me and still in VA.

my gramps was on saipan during the bad time, one of 3 in his division to survive the initial landing. "after" the island was "pacified" the marines were told to turn in their ammo. The "non-regulation" piece grandma gave him saved his and a number of bunk-mates asses when "pacified" turned out to mean something different that the R.E.M.s thought it did.
Paul Thomas was a marine di, a golden glove, a pacific fleet bare-handed champ, and died by his own hand because grandma was a bitch.

My pet dealer pretty much gives me very good prices. But he's having trouble getting a lot of the stuff I want now (Nighthawk Customs, Charles Daley, Les Baer, Wilson Combat, etc. He's getting me an Ed Brown (much delayed), but that's because they were willing to set him up as a dealer without a prohibitive minimum order. Is there any other 1911 fan out there that might be looking for a gun by one of the outfits I named? If we combined an order, it might help get past minimum order quantities.
