Many of us will end up in a situation where we cannot OC/CC for whatever reason. Keeping a pair of handcuffs in your car can provide an additional layer of security for your handgun. It's not a failsafe, but it's better than just locking it in the glovebox or trunk.

As shown in the pictures, you can get one cuff to secure the frame and slide while leaving the other cuff free to secure to the vehicle. Possible places include seat rails, trunk hinges, steering column, and etc. Because you will be inserting the cuff through the trigger guard, always practice SAFETY and unload the firearm.

Of course, any "secure" storage is only a deterrent, not a preventative.

Dang! I gave away a nice pair of S&W's!!!! I sghould have kept them for this...

I'm using center of mass boxes and here are some observations.

One they stink, as in smell, something awful. So bad in fact that I stopped using them and put them in my storage unit open so that they 'air out'. The smell is so bad I would get a headache and the smell 'sticks' to the gun after removing it from the lockbox.

They do function as designed and will prevent a smash and grab. The fact that they are a TSA approved container for transporting a gun in checked luggage is great too.

They are relatively cheap (approx $30 each) and you won't scrtach/nick your gun as it is enclosed in foam (which I hope eventually stop smelling so bad)

So, what causes this smell? Is it the padding they use? The glue that holds the padding inside? Something else? Does it go away (never to return) if you leave it open to air out for a few days?

Kinda strange...

Mine don't smell, and I've had them for a while. You might want to contact the manufacturer and let them know. They might replace your foam liners....
