A relative bought a new S&W 40VE at the gun show a few weeks back. It came with two 14 round magazines (and a trigger that makes you think it does have a safety on the slide somewhere).

I checked around for additional magazines (for a S&W 40VE) but it seemed like everyone was out of stock on those.

I looked at the on line catalog for CDNN and they had some S&W 40 caliber magazines for the S&W Sigma pistols that hold 15 rounds (one more than the VE magazines). I ordered two of them and we tried them out last weekend. The fit the gun fine, they look like they were made to fit the gun and the functioned just like the 14 round magazines did.

Just in case anyone else is looking for magazines for a 40VE.

Oh, the trigger got better, too. He only put about a box or box and half of ammo through it but the trigger was noticeably better after we came home and cleaned/relubed the gun.

Rip out the pigtail spring and it will get even better, I pulled the one out of my 9VE and my buddies 40VE. It was even more noticeable on the 40.

No need to rip out the pigail spring, just dry fire the snot out of it. Better yet, Shoot it a bunch, it gets better each time. You can do some polishing on the sear to expedite this, but it's easier (and more fun) to just let it run. It's not picky about what it eats, either.

Additional area to polish would be the slot in the sear where the two pins ride. There were tons of machining grooves in mine that once I polished out, the trigger became very smooth. An emery board is a good start then some really fine grit sand paper strips afterwards to finish it up. Note that this doesn't lighten the pull at all, but it is nice and smooth now.

I don't shoot my Sigma much since I bought my M&P but I've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 800rds thru it and it didn't loosen up at all. I do think I'm gonna polish it though, It would be nice to smoothen out the end of the trigger.
