How long before the anti's begin dancing in the victim's blood?.

If you click on the link at the bottom of the article you linked to, it takes you to the local area news. That's where I found this...

"A handgun was later discovered around 11:30 a.m. in a field southwest of the school. Investigators say the gun belongs to the suspect's father."

This father needs to do a better job of keeping his firearms not accessible to his child, or pay more attention to the way he's raising him/the way his kid is acting. Like this tidbit...

"On his Facebook page, Phelps stated that "today is the day". When asked by another friend if he was at school, Phelps replied "Yea I'm here but not for long." In an earlier post, Phelps posted "Don't use your mind use your nine.""

How does a parent not notice behavior like that? My kids aren't old enough for Facebook yet, but my friends daughter is and he checks her page everyday and calls her (she lives with her mother, not him) every night. He makes sure he stays involved in her life. Maybe I just don't know the whole story.

Either way, the sheeple will be pushing for much stronger gun laws and extending the "gun-free" zone further into the community "for the sake of the children". A lot of good those signs do huh?

Well he sure didn't fly in. He walked in just in like all the other kids.

because you suspend a kid doesn't mean he can't walk right in.

Just like the no guns allowed sign didn't stop him either.

Seven schools were placed on lockdown following the shooting while police interviewed witnesses and searched for the weapon.

Paranoia at its finest. Make a small incident into a bigger one.

Guess that's one more for the anti's. Everyone I know has a facebook page and my opinion of facebook is it's for people who don't have a life. I can't understand why anyone would want the world to know their buisness.

Agreed, but, the father could have made sure that the willful son didn't get his. Grant it, if the boy wanted a gun, he could have found one. However, the father could have made sure that the firearms he wasn't carrying weren't accessible to his child.

I'll be honest, my kids aren't teens yet (my oldest is 7), but I'm always vigilant about keeping my firearms locked up if I'm not in possession of them at the time. I also take them to the range with me and they see me carry everyday. I'm constantly speaking to them about firearms and how dangerous it can be if they are handled without proper supervision.

Like I said, maybe I don't know the whole story. I remember that I was quite a rebellious teen. I never thought about using my dad's firearms to settle a fight though. I knew what they could do and why he kept them locked up.

I have a facebook page myself. I use it to communicate to old friends, to send broad messages to my family, and as a tool to keep informed about what's going on in the world (including 2a related things). There are a lot of people out there that use it to post every aspect of their lives though. I don't understand why we haven't heard about more facebook motivated robberies in the news. I can't count how many times I've seen... "Headed to (insert far away place) for the weekend/week/month for vacation!". Maybe it's happened and I just haven't heard about it. Seems pretty unsafe to me though.
