When I read the thread title I was about to go run and check my hell temp monitor, but figured I should check it out first as the remote display capability is flaky and it makes for one heck of a trip.

Aw, c'mon guys. They are special and should be allowed to defend themselves. If they tie up the 911 switchboard what will the peons do? I am so glad I dont live there. How can normal people stand this kind of nonsense. Are there any normal people in the state of Kalifornia or are they all wacko leftists?

"Good for me and not for you caue I'm special"... UhHuh and I can think of some "special needs" for him myself that he may not like but screw em!

What's bizarre is that Lee Baca, elitist scumbag sheriff of LA, opposes this. At least he's consistent, sorta (I'm pretty sure you can still buy concealed carry permits in LA - so he's looking out for a revenue stream).

The "right people" in the California gun rights scene say that it would be a very good thing if this passes.

14th amendment equal protection. Likely the whole law could get thrown out in court, but there's also the chance for every citizen to benefit.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. For example, the law which allows retired LEOs to CC anywhere in the country (very similar in concept to this law) is still on the books. VA allows LEOs and some attorney's to CC and drink while the population can not. The list goes on and on of such laws which provide government officials and ex-government officials special privileges, while not serving in their official capacity, that the citizenry do not have. They rarely get struck down.

The rulers and the "goons in black" are afraid of us "good little slaves" actually having guns and using them.

Course they are...as long as we have guns we arent easy victims. The part about this that gets me is the same them we see over and over again...legislators putting themselves above the citizens. If we can ever stop that our country would be a much better place to live.

Regarding this legislation helping regular gun owners...dont hold your breath...the best way for CA gun owners to be "helped" is for them to simply leave the state and never look back...

Gene and the rest of the Calguns Foundation do have a pretty good grasp on things. They are litigators, not lobbyists. The bullet-button and monsterman grip were brilliant ways around the assault weapon ban. They did manage to go from no AR rifles 5in 2005, to hundreds of thousands sold in the past five years.
The magazine capacity limit is being worked on, the roster is being worked on, they managed to overturn the San Francisco handgun ban long before DC or Chicago.
In reality, More than half of the counties in California are "self protection" good cause anyway. The few holdouts are of course, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Clara, etc, The population centers. Sacramento has even gone to near "shall issue."

Leaving the state is exactly what should not happen. That just gives complete control to the idiots. Remember that California still have 2 senators and 53 congressional representitives which have an effect on the rest of the country. Think about that, they hold 1/8 of the seats in congress. 34 are Democrats and 19 are republican. Would you feel better if they were all Democrats?

@Rich - kudos to the folks who stay there and fight the good fight. I for one would not bother. There are simply way too many idiots and unless there is a major influx of pro gun folks they most likely wont win in the end.
