This is one of the most shocking photos that I've seen. The wave was estimated at 23 feet.
It's hard to imagine a wave that is breaking up in the tree tops.

Pretty crazy stuff. I heard that the tsunami hit California and swept 4 people out to sea in Crescent City, I think it was.
One of the videos that I've seen reminds me of people in Japan looking skyward and running for their lives from Godzilla.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, the upcoming March 19 "Super Moon" is thought to bring more natural disasters. If I lived on the West Coast, I'd starting making peace with my maker about now.
Ever since the first pics came out, all I've been able to think about is how long it'll take for one of the chans to shop in Godzilla or Mothra or one of the other Jap monsters...

Two big points of irony here:
1 - Japan's infrastructure is very advanced and this widespread damage is evidence of just how bad this quake was. Our west coast would no longer there if this happened in southern CA...
2 - I havent seen near the outpouring of promises or action for aid that was witnessed in the aftermath of Haiti...perhaps I'm just not paying attention...
One of the Korean news channels is providing pretty much complete coverage. The devastation is indeed Biblical...

LOS ANGELES — The earthquake that struck Friday off the coast of Japan was so strong it moved the island of Honshu 8 feet to the east and sped up the Earth's rotation by 1.6 microseconds, making the day just a little shorter, scientists said. A microsecond is one-millionth of a second.
A preliminary study by the Italian Institute of Geology and Volcanology indicate the quake may have shifted the Earth's rotation axis by 3.937 inches, said Antonio Piersanti, researcher of the Rome-based institute, in an e-mailed statement Friday.
Earthquakes can involve shifting rock by several meters, changing the distribution of mass on the planet. This affects the Earth's rotation, said Richard Gross, a geophysicist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

I was telling my mother in the morning that i know this sounds bad, but this earthquake sort of reaffirmed my faith...in a way. I thought of judgement day like most of you lot did and what will happen after death.

Hey, what happens after death dont matter. Its what happens before we die that matters and decides where we spend eternity. Read Matthew Chapter 24 and keep the faith...
