Topic page numbers
You might notice that the number of pages in the longer topics has changed (the word association topic, for instance). This is due to an adjustment on the board so that 40 posts are now displayed per page instead of just 10. There were just too many pages to click through. Hopefully this change is acceptable to everyone.

Howdy,
I like it, Rick. More is better.
Thanks,
George

Sounds good to me. I always click the "load more per page" option!

I see a small problem with picture heavy threads- those who have dial up will have trouble viewing the thread. We can't all have DSL, cable, etc. Even 56k dial is difficult in some locations due to old phone lines.

Good point. Hmmm... So, dial-uppers aren't allowed to visit the chicks with guns thread!Moccasin wrote:I see a small problem with picture heavy threads- those who have dial up will have trouble viewing the thread. Moccasin - you're on dialup? How bad is it on those threads? It would be better if I could add a change that actually resamples images when it resizes instead of just setting a height/width parameter.

Re: Topic page numbers
I'm on BAD dial up. I can't get better than 28,800 where I live and the only other alternative is satellite. I tried the .22 thread earlier today and gave up on it. Even with just one pic in a thread it is difficult if the pic file is very large. I usually just avoid threads that I know will be slow to download (pic heavy thread) until I'm at work but some of the longer text only threads are taking a noticeably longer time to download.

Re: Topic page numbers
Alright. Maybe 40 is too long anyway. I'll try 20 and see how it goes. It was at 10 by default and that was just not enough posts per page.

Re: Topic page numbers
Rick perhaps an alternative would be to have the images display as thumbs and if you're interested you could click and enlarge. Not sure if you could do that or not. Or perhaps a setting that would allow the user to set how many post they wanted to display per page. Just a thought.

Re: Topic page numbers
Yeah, but who wants to go to the chicks with guns thread and click on a bunch of thumbnails!
I like the thought of creating a setting for number of posts on a per-user basis. I'll see if I can come up with something that can be set in the UCP.

I hear ya, but if you could display thumbs that could be enlarged with a single click that would give the slow folks a chance to get a decent page load and then click on what they wanted to wait for. Just a thought.
