Mexican Gun Scandal - Contact your State Senators and Reps

In a recent report by CBS News, Federal agent John Dodson blew the whistle on the "Fast and Furious" operation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) under approval from the US Department of Justice (USDOJ).

This operation was undertaken in an effort to track firearms sales and shipments into Mexico in order to bring down a "Major drug cartel". Unfortunately, not only did the operation directly influence an increase in gun-related crimes in Mexico (including many deaths), but it has now also resulted in the death of US Federal agent Brian Terry in Arizona.

Additionally, from the "Gun Control" perspective, these illegal sales and subsequent tracking of guns in Mexico to US dealers has been used to incense public opinion about the "Gun Show Loophole" and the need for stricter gun control within our own borders.

This tactic by the Left, used in an attempt to further their anti-gun agenda, is appalling. You wonder why Obama has been so quiet about gun control since he became the president? It's because this operation has been quietly running in the background. He and his fellow Democrats were waiting for the opportunity to use the data provided by Operation Fast and Furious to curtail our rights here in the US.

“A growing wave of criminal violence in Mexico’s border communities and in the interior of the country, fueled by the availability of guns and currency smuggled south from the U.S., poses a serious threat to Mexico’s security,” Napolitano said, “and portends deepening problems for our nation’s border regions.” cite

I have sent emails to both of my senators (Webb and Warner) as well as my representative in the House, urging that they assist with determining who approved this operation and bring them to justice. These people clearly have blood on their hands by allowing over 1,700 guns to be intentionally sold through "Straw purchases" for shipment to Mexico.

Please join me by contacting your representatives in Washington to demand that those who approved this operation be brought to justice.

Here's the letter that I sent. Feel free to use all or part of it!
Subj: BATFE, USDOJ and Guns in Mexico

Senator,

I am appalled by the recent reports concerning the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) *intentionally allowing* firearms sales to Mexican drug runners. This was apparently done with approval from the US Department of Justice (USDOJ).

The program was called "Fast and Furious", and agents were allowing sales to known drug cartel hoodlums in an effort to "track the guns and bring down a major drug cartel".

Now one of these "Fast and Furious" guns has been used to kill a federal agent with boots on the ground in Arizona. The people who approved this plan now have blood on their hands.

"Fast and Furious" was also being used to incense public opinion about firearm ownership in the United States by making claims that thousands of guns in Mexico were being traced back to purchases made in the US. Clearly, those purchases should not have been allowed under current federal law.

I am embarrassed by the corruption that is occurring within our government, and I ask that you stand and help flush out the people in our system who helped come up with this hair-brained scheme.

Respectfully,
YOUR NAME

As if letting a few through was bad enough, but 1,700 is a lot more than just for "tracking" purposes. I don't think they should have conspired to even let one through, but 1,700 should put them away for life. Clearly the ATF is a real and present danger to the American people.

The Mexicans blamed us for the weapons coming into there country. They were right. Our own government allowing this. What a disgrace. I can only speculate on what the real agenda was/is. I just don't buy the "taking down a drug cartel" hook line and sinker.

Very same question I've been asking myself zephyp. And there was the usual "no comment" by the White House yesterday afternoon. You'ld think FOX would be all over this.
I sent emails to our Senators and REPs yesterday.

I don't mean to sound like a total pessimist, but I've learned from experience that these liberal Dems DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT THE MAJORITY OF THEIR CONSTITUENTS THINK OR WANT. They only care about what Obama/Reid Pelosi want. That's who they actually represent. In the case of ObamaCare, I actually wrote to Webb/Warner/Perriello to express my extreme distaste for that miserable piece of legislation, which the vast majority of Virginians were against. Like they really gave a damn. They were given their marching orders by Obama/Reid/Pelosi and voted accordingly. Even knowing it would probably lead to their defeat the next time they were up for reelection. As it turned out, Perriello is gone (thank God), and Webb won't run for reelection. Heck, even in the case of the new West Virginia Senator Manchin, who said, when he was running for his seat, that he would have voted against ObamaCare if he had been a Senator at the time, when the repeal of ObamaCare came up for a vote, HE VOTED AGAINST REPEAL!!!!. These people lie through their teeth and can't be trusted. But if you guys and gals want to waste postage or time writing/emailing these turds, go right ahead.

@9MM92FS - ya think...lots of folks out there fed up just like you and have been for a long long time...IMHO if us folks on the right would start using tactics like the lefties we'd get things straightened out post haste...I think everyone one of us should be reading Saul Alinsky and figuring out how to use his philosophy against these socialist commies...
