Bobcat

Post by Vahunter »

A while back here we were talking about bobcats jumping on hunters while calling turkeys. Here's one I shot Jan.1 '08 while deer hunting. I wouldn't want either his jaws or claws in me.

She didn't weigh but 21 pounds. I already had one mounted so the hide went to the fur market along with a few fox.

Vahunter, only 21lbs. was that gutted? That cat sure looked a lot bigger than that.

I've seen a few cats mounted and that one looked as big as any that I've seen.

Bobcats tend to look bigger than they are and that's where people get fooled. The one I have mounted, when I shot it I could'a sworn it weighed 30 pounds. I'm almost ashamed to say it was a whooopin' 13 pounds. My cousin killed one a couple of years ago that weighed 33 pounds and that was a monster. I killed this one about 300 yards from my front porch. Shot her about 9:00am with a handloaded 150 grain Sierra out of my .308 at about 30 yards. Shot placement was the key to not tearing it too bad.

Cutun, I'm 5' 10" 210 pounds of rock solid beer belly :hysterical: :hysterical:

Glad we got all that cleared up, that's still is one fine looking cat! I've only seen two in the wild, maybe one day I too will be holding up a cat like that

It is a nice looking cat, pictures are decieving, it looked real big to me.

I've been hunting a long time and I've only ever seen two bobcats myself, I never shot one, but I have heard that the females are smaller than the males. If I ever shoot a decent one I'll get it mounted.
