Are they legal in VA and MD? For possession, carry?
Is OC legal for carry in MD?
I'm trying to figure out what my options are, primarily in MD, since I obviously cannot carry a gun there.

Yes they are legal to carry here is the code regarding carrying/owning one. Anything not mentioned is legal.

I carry a Monadnock, 21in, all steel, anytime I go out. I have one of the swivel holsters and it sits at a downward angle above my left pocket.
Two things to consider:
1. It's a heavy SOB you definitely known if you wearing it(the ASP airweights may be different)
2. It 's next to impossible to conceal when carried in this manner. I don't really care if it's visible and have never had any trouble with anyone. I find carrying in my pocket is plenty concealable but very slow to draw so I don't like it.
If you can carry a gun, they do a much better job with much less hassle. I am personally under 18 and as such can't carry a firearm so for now I have a Monadnock baton.

Opps forgot that part! To be honest I have no idea. I couldn't find the answer googling. Does Maryland have a gun owners forum? Perhaps they would know.

Realize that a baton to the head or neck is considered deadly force just like a firearm. That is the problem for all intermediate defense systems, their legal use has much more gray room.
