The established Republican powers that be would never support him. I would probably die of shock if they ever really supported him. They fought against his son in Kentucky and weren't very nice about it.

Yup. One of my big pet peeves about voting system. We get the candidate of their choice not ours. Candidates that dont get backing from the party dont make the ticket.

Maybe the "Government of the People" has had an epiphany since the advent of the Tea Party and will back the "Candidate of the People". Hey - I'm just sayin'...

I'm (obviously) not a Paul fan...but even if he were President today; the Legislative and Judicial branches would screw him over every turn and he'd get not one of his ideas passed, so I guess it doesn't matter if he ever wins?

Hey, at this point, I'd happily take paralysis or stagnation over this clown and the circus he rode in on.

He would still have authority over the executive branch, so there's quite a bit that can be done even with an uncooperative Congress and a hostile court system. Cutting regulatory red tape, idling useless agencies, rewriting foreign policy. It would be worth it if all he did was gut the State Department, a haven of communists since Wilson was president.

Of course it's all fantasy, since he hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of getting elected (and if he by some miracle were, I would not be very surprised if he had a tragic accident of some kind).

A tragic accident...now why might that be. He has one big thing in common with another president who had a tragic accident. His name was Kennedy and he ran right into a bullet. Poor guy hated the Fed and went after it from day one...pressed for a repeal of the Fed Reserve Act...instituted a silver certificate backed by real silver via executive order. They printed them certificates right up until he ran into that bullet. Then the presses ran dry...yeah Ron Paul...hates the Fed, gets elected, has an accident...yeah, makes sense to me...

+1

Given his Constitutional stance, that would create a catch 22 for him. There is a great deal of power he could execute Constitutionally, but it would be significantly less than our President enjoys today. Would he use that extra-Constitutional power to "fix" things or does he stay within the bounds of his would be office?

I'd much rather have an ineffectual Paul who will actually support the beliefs of the people who voted for him as opposed to someone like a Romney who will sign a new AWB.

Perhaps, if he were elected, the legislative and judicial branches would finally realize that "We the People" are finally fed up with their bureaucratic non-sense. Especially if we vote out enough of the career politicians at the same time!

Guys it wouldnt matter if Jesus himself were elected............. they would call him a right wing radical and say his views are too radical for today's society.

And besides "they" being republicraps and Democraps are all the same thing.............COMMUNISTS. They have all earned a trip to the tall tree with the hangman's noose.

Which is why I stated that we need to vote out the career politicians as well.
