Get some popcorn, and a few bottles to pee in to make it thru all 3 of 9 hours.

If it's true to the novel, it'll be worth the 9 hours.
I'd also love to see a movie "The Fountainhead".

Cant wait to see it but movies are rarely true to the book...IMHO most movies are like twisted abridged versions of the original book...

I agree with Zephyp though that it likely won't be anything like the book.

I dunno, guys. Jackson did a darned fine job with Lord of the Rings and set a pretty good standard for adapting novels tot he screen. He showed that if you are dedicated, any book can be properly adapted. Atlas has the same kind of following a LOTR - the kind that if you dork it up, they will let you know it in no uncertain terms. Doing this right could be a real boon to those of us who are card carrying members of The Short Attention Span Theater.

“Man’s mind is his basic tool of survival. Life is given to him; survival is not. His body is given to him, its sustenance is not. His mind is given to him, its contents are not. To remain alive, he must act, and before he can act he must know the nature and purpose of his action.”

My buddy owns it. It was not bad at all in comparison to the book, especially considering the old technology when it was made (1949). Most people don't like teh wooden acting of Gary Cooper, but in this it as perfect. He was very motivated to play the part for idealogical reasons. That made the performance mean more to me.

And that's just the trailer!

There's hardly universal agreement on that. His changes to the story were in some respects substantial and to no good purpose - The Two Towers really suffers from his rewriting, and Return of the King is less than it could have been. At least to my thinking.
I would expect a lot of reworking of Atlas Shrugged, to the extent that I would not be surprised if the underlying theme is perverted to something else.

That sure is the truth. Back a couple of years ago when the financial crisis was all over the news I would have conversations with my brother and all I would ever hear him say was "You gotta read Atlas Shrugged". So much in that book is happening right now.
