Texas resident buying in VA

So I saw this in a post from last year and just want to ask a follow up question...
The law requires that you sell only to a resident of your state who is at least 18 years of age and you have no reason to believe can not legally own the firearm. No bill of sale is required.
I'm active duty stationed in NOVA but my DL and CHL are from Texas. I was planning on heading to the gun show this weekend to pick up an AR15 lower receiver. Is not having a Virginia ID going to keep me from shopping?

You still have a copy of your PCS orders?

Military Personnel identification
Active military personnel permanently stationed in Virginia are treated as Virginia residents for the purchase of a handgun. Identification and residency are established by the following:
A military photo-identification card issued by the United States Department of Defense and proof that Virginia is the permanent duty station via "signed and current" military assignment orders is acceptable identification and residency documentation to establish military personnel as residents of Virginia.
A member of the United States Armed Forces, serving on active duty, whose permanent duty station is located within Virginia, but who dwells in another state, is a “resident” of the Commonwealth of Virginia for purposes of purchasing a firearm.
If permanently assigned to a mobile unit in Virginia, and the homeport is listed as Virginia, the transaction may be processed as a Virginia resident the same as any other permanent military assignment to Virginia supported by military assignment orders. The individual is treated as a non-Virginia resident if the homeport is listed as any place other than Virginia.
Individuals retired from military service are subject to the same identification and residency requirements as any other person wishing to purchase a firearm; i.e., a primary and secondary form of ID.

I don't expect anyone would turn me away after seeing a Military ID but I guess I'll take a copy of my orders with me to the gun show just in case.

Active duty non-resident here.
i just bought a new handgun last week, in and out in 10 minutes with my DL, ID card, and orders showing i'm stationed here.

Actually I've seen it happen, but it wasn't done rudely and the shop owner was very apologetic. He explained it to him in great detail, stressed to the young man that it's the law and told him exactly what he can accept, once again without any attitude. That's one reason I shop there and will continue to.

If you're active duty, stationed at the Pentagon, you're technically in Virginia, but you may get turned away by a dealer. If you're not stationed at the Pentagon, then you shouldn't have a problem if you have your .mil ID and a copy of your orders.

Just to reiterate, any dealer selling to you without seeing your orders is doing so illegally and is risking his license doing so. Bring the PCS orders, and avoid putting the both of you in an awkward position.

No technically about it...the Pentagon is in good ole VA...

No technically about it...the Pentagon is in good ole VA...
The Pentagon is in VA but they use a Washington, DC address. Tha's why there is a bill in the VA legislature now (HB 1857)
Transfer of firearms; documentation of residence. Clarifies that a member of the military may provide permanent orders assigning him to the Pentagon for purposes of providing documentation of residency when purchasing a firearm from a licensed dealer.
