I'm from out west and you can go to several different locations to fill 5 gallon jugs for drinking water. Everything from specialty stores to "atm" style fillers to Wal-Mart or your grocier of choice. Is there any place around Arlington or Alexandria that is like that?

Never seen anything like that, but then again we have a lot more access to water around here.

I've seen machines hanging around malls but I hear most are merely hooked up to the local water supply with some sort of filter or none at all.

Being from the West I can understand your question about water supply. We don't have any problem with the ability to get water for what ever we need here in Va. My well is 300 feet down and will pump at well (pun) over 25 gal per min.

I'm quite jealous, my parents live outside Leesburg and have had 2 wells dry up and the 3rd only pumps around 2 gallons a minute. Don't know the exact depth but IIRC they're more than 200 deep, it got so bad that they started filtering water from the river, not sure why the water table is so bad there.

Bill has a small man made lake next to him...I'm sure that helps.

+1 The ones I see you can just buy a new jug and leave the empty one. Never used it and I'm more in central VA.

Yep, I am sure that with the 30 acer lake I should be in good shape and it most likely is a great help for my well water.
