The big brown truck brought my Shilen 6x45 barrel for my savage wednesday.

I went over Bill's today to do the barrel swap. Everything went well once we got the barrel nut off. Had to put a little heat on it and beat it with a 5# hammer.

I had a few loads that I threw together and I think it's going to turn out to be a tack driver once I open up the barrel channel ( the shilen is a tad bigger than the savage) and work up a load that it really likes.

#5 hammer, huh?. That's the BFH?
It sounds like a pretty sweet combo. Now we just need some pitchers to look at

That's not ugly at all. I'd call that rifle "all business"

That short barrel comes in handy. I love and hate BP season. I love it cause the deer are in rut but hate having a barrel that feels 8 feet long. Makes for awkward handling in some boxes and blinds.

This barrel is 18" long plus it's a little bigger in diameter than the factory barrel. Balances real well. I floated the barrel this morning and tried the load I had put together while I was waiting on the barrel to come in. I believe it may have some potential, 3 shot group at 50 yards almost one hole.
