If there ever was a reason to cite why we fight to keep our gun rights intact it's this BS bill from Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY). Not only new magazines but the older ones too...This broad as been sniffing glue or eating lead paint as she once again proves that a walking unconcious idiot can be elected to and raise hell in Congress.

The fiercest gun-control advocate in Congress released the text of a bill she plans to introduce next week that would outlaw high-capacity magazines like the one a gunman used to shoot 20 people in a matter of seconds in Arizona this weekend.

10 years in jail for a magazine? She's nuts ,,period Sadly there are other wacko copy cats in Congress getting on the band wagon and introducing more BS bills that we need to see go away .

I usually try to understand where antis are coming from. Being afraid of what you don't know has been a human flaw throughout modern society. However, in her particular case, I'm not sure I can respect her. Not while she is a one-platform individual; not after seeing that youtube clip someone on here put up about the barrel shroud.

Just another uninformed politico. If this was to pass then I would have to stop carrying several of my weapons. About the only one that would be legal would be my Walther PK-380.

I am very amused by the mention by name of feed strips. The idea that Hotchkiss-family machineguns are a public safety threat in modern America is hilarious.

It's been noted elsewhere that this bill would ban the transfer of original Henry rifles, since there's no exception for antiques or rimfire ammo other than .22. Pure insanity.

After trying to see this government officials point of view Ive come to the comclusion that she is entirely too undereducated about guns in general to make any judgements about "high capacity" laws. She is obviously out for revenge on anyone that carries and/or owns a gun because of what happened to her husband. She also keeps calling them "CLIPS" and not Magazines...which made my preliminary thoughts about her education on guns oh sooooo true. Didnt catch if you can carry an unlimited amount of magazines, so if i want more bullets ill just have to learn how to reload faster? so if i normally carry 2 extra mags at 13 each, ill have to carry.....1 more mag to get the same effect? and at that rate ill have 4 extra bullets than normally available...awesome.

Well - if they outlaw 33 round magazines, then I suppose the next wacko killing spree type will just purchase three 10-rounders and practice his technique to empty, drop and reload.

Hopefully, we have enough sense in the House to keep anything like this from passing.

Hi-cap mags are sure to be a hot item at this weekend's Hampton gun show.

Even with all the hysteria and manufactured outrage coming from the left, I don't see another AWB or high-cap mag ban gaining much traction this time around.

exactly, we pass stupid laws like this that limit our ability to defend ourselves, but a criminal isnt going to care about some law...so that gives them the upper hand. Also, she talks about feeling well enough protected when she goes out into public..well no SH@# lady, thats because you pay people to protect you as well as have 1/2 the police in the area go where you go to protect you...with guns no less.
off subject a bit, but it is indeed fun to rail through some bullets. we went out to the desert (im in AZ until next week) and fired off around 500 12 ga rounds, 150 .40, 300 .45, 1300 .22, 40 .300, 400 9mm, 50 .357, plus some that ive forgotten by now....bottom line yea its fun to rail off some rounds. we had 15 people and 23 different guns, no one got hurt and everyone had fun!!!!!

"These people" dont care because (1) they dont do this themselves so no skin off their nose and (2) if they wanted to do it doesnt matter if its banned they can still go out and do it cause they be above the law...

Legislators see their "job" as making laws. They see this as an opportunity to grand stand and make a new law...

Just like a proud 2 year old showing off their toilet product to mom...look what I just made...

Doesnt matter that shooting people is already illegal or that killing people is already illegal...gee, 2 laws right there that didnt stop the twit in Tuscon...will another help...maybe third times a charm eh...

I don't have any High Capacity Clips. God these people are clueless.

This was to be expected from her, she has a personal agenda. If you recall her husband, was killed and her son, Kevin, severely injured, on a Long Island Rail Road commuter train, when Colin Ferguson, opened fire on random unarmed passengers.

This tragic incident, of course immediately qualified her, a nurse, to become a congresswoman.

You opened the door, I'll ask the obvious question, What qualifies anybody to be a Congressman? Have the attorneys that have been sent by a lot of other folks lately, haven't done the best of jobs. The trainwreck of debt that we have now has it's origins in "Beans and Bullets" during the Vietnam War. Let see who was running congress then? Oh yeah, mostly the generation that is now referred to as the greatest generation, folks who lived through the Depression and World War 2. I will be the first to tell you that like Ms. McCarthy, I have no doubt their hearts were in the right place, but the plan and execution failed. Since then, few Federal programs from anywhere, but DOD have been cut or dropped, no matter how bad they fail. The solution to failing programs seem to be more money. That has just made them more expensive failures.

@Cowboy -- yes, I am so ashamed. I'll try to be a good gubment employee and make only nonsense from now on...

@grumpMSG - I think other than the basic qualifications in the Constitution you should only have to have experienced all the problems we have here in the USA today. Being a law abiding productive tax paying citizen is enough experience to know what needs fixin in DC....please note that productive tax paying citizen eliminates most undesirables for these j-o-b-s.

My idea for Congress is to get rid of the elections, and run it like jury duty.
