What would you do if....?

Post by NickFac »

What would be you're first course of action if you woke up tomorrow, fliped on the news, and found that you're second ammendment rights had been taken from you? You were no longer alowed to legaly own a firearm, and annyone on record as purchasing one would be tracked and had them confiscated. Just curious......

My right to self defense can't be taken from me, it's not given to me by any goverment or any person. It's a right I was born with as a free man. It was given to me by God, no man or goverment can take it from me.

You can give that right up if you wish, but it can't be taken from you.

The choice is yours.

Great answer. I have been pondering since Osama took office, when that day came what would people do.. Would we stand together to defend our rights... Would most simply give in and hand their guns in, and essentialy thier freedom... Would people go into hiding.. I don't normaly like to think about things like this but it is becoming a reality...

It's never too soon to be prepared. Even if it's just a plan and your Bug-Out Bag (BOB), you can be ready in case of a SHTF situation. If you want to read about people that are serious about this sort of thing, check out the Survivalist Forums. Tin foil hats are optional

I lost all of my guns in a tragic duck hunting accident. Nothing for them to come and take.

Since none of mine are registered (I'm hoping the purchase records are long gone) and "they" know I've got some, I'll frown, stomp around a bit and grudgingly hand them a couple of closet queens I've been saving just for this purpose.

I think anyone who says "I'll do this or that" is talking through their hat. You might think you will. You might hope you will. But until you actually face that situation, you don't know what you'll do.

I sure don't.

I'd just have to say that I gave them to some random Gang Bangers on the street who looked like they needed some bolt actions that you can hardly find ammo for anymore....

I agree with this aswell. Which is why I realy started this thread.. Just wondering if this situation had gone through the minds of others. I certainly can tell you what I won't do, which is hand my guns over to any state or federal offical for any reason. That I will not do, what I will do if they come try to get them? I have no clue....

The Civil War was the southern states leaving to start thier own country and gov't.

A revolution is overthrowing a gov't. or regime and replacing it with a new one.

Then why do we call the war for Independence the American Revolution?

It was the first war of secession, was it not?

It all depends on who writes the history, which is usually the victor. If the country undergoes a revolt and the country's government wins then the uprising was a civil war. If the country undergoes a revolt and the revolting army wins then it indeed was a revoltution.

Thats the way i see it anyways.

I agree, skeeter and I hope it never comes to that. The easy way to avoid this is to get a majority of the public to loudly support the 2nd amendment right. IMO, about the only way this is going to happen is if there is a major incident that is thwarted by armed citizens. My ideas of major event would be a group of us putting down a terrorist attack or perhaps an armed citizen saving the family of a very prominent anti-gun figure that changes their mind. Even then there would still be a group of antis. There always will be. The problem is if they are victimized or see others victimized by criminals with guns the anti idea is galvanized in their mind.

Having said all that, we can always hope to get a majority of pro-gun officials elected, but the tides in DC always turn. I not only love our Constitutional rights and guns, but have spent most of my adult life working under the very same oath as the president. I'm sworn to protect and defend the Constitution and plan, support, and watch our troops deploy to do the same. We need to stick together and do everything we can as citizens to protect our rights at all costs. I ride by Arlington cemetery several times each week and I'll be damned before I have to think about all those precious lives given in vain. Given the current state of our nation, it is too much to bear and heartbreaking to watch the funeral procession that I see almost weekly.

No, the way to swing people is to point out that the government that has the authority and power, to outlaw and take my property (guns) has the authority and power to outlaw and take YOUR property. (Think, SUV's, or even automobiles in general, for example.) There is no difference. Property is property.

Once the first block falls, the next one is easy.

Along the same lines, have you ever noticed that people are always willing to give up someone elses rights? If I don't own guns, what do I care if "they" ourlaw guns? If I don't ride a motorcycle, or if I always wear a helmet anyway, what do I care if "they" pass a manditory helmet law? If I don't smoke, what do I care if "they" outlaw smoking?

It's an easy trap to fall into.

This government is already starting to do that, with the bailouts. First they tell a company a bank, auto manufacturer or whomever that they are not strong enough to continue. Then they force them to take bailout money, then the government starts telling the company what to do. They tell the CEO to step down, and put someone in charge they can control. (much as we do with foriegn countries we want to control.)
In a real sense they have taken away entity's property and control of it. Thats why the banks want to give back the TARP money, so the gov can't tell them how to run their business.
