Here's some whack job with his "new" Chinese SKS :machinegun:  All numbers match except the one stamped on the bottom of the magazine. Fiberglass jungle stock. Spike bayonet. First time messing with a stripper clip...interesting.

Ah, so now the difference between a magazine and a clip are clear? Congrats.

That is one crazy looking dude!

Stripper clips - UGH! I go to gunshows, buy them by the dozen and any clip that doesn't load/unload cleanly goes to recycling. You'll also learn to LOVE ploymer coated rounds.

But congrats on teh new rifle!!! :lovegunporn:

Nice! You bought that strictly for bayonet drills, right?

Where do you shoot - backyard?

I shoot at the Northern Virginia Gun Club (NVGC) on Route 206. I only have an acre of land and immediate neighbors, so shooting in the back yard would be a bad idea

Bayonet practice in the backyard doesn't need more than an acre...

It is kinda sad that it's taken this long for you to become acquainted with the joys of the clip...

I don't know that I'd call myself acquainted yet. We'll see how the trip to the range goes :)

Good luck with the new toy Rick and start hoarding ammo for it. I will have to look around and see if I still have my conversion kit for a sks to make it a 30 shot weapon. If I find it it is your's.
Bill

P.S. if that is your War Face then I can see why you were in the Navy.

Rick - forgot to mention my SKS (Russian) eats the cheap Wolf ammo just fine. However, you will probably want to upgrade the "cleaning kit" it came with.

making fun of squids is kinda unfair. C'mon... they made us fire at least 10 rounds out of a pistol in boot camp to make sure we wouldn't shoot ourselves or our buddies. Heck... they made sure most of us could kinda swim even. After boot-camp training for me was intensive like "don't walk into a moving propeller" and "avoid jet intakes when the plane is on." From there we progressed to "don't smoke while refueling an airplane"-[a cigarette will go out when thrown into a bucket of JP-5 but it still makes the folk around you nervous when you demonstrate.] "Also the "falling off a plane while you are washing it is more hazardous when on a carrier" and "Don't touch that, it's hot."
vfa-106 gladiators baby. Training pilots to fly f/a-18's when I was in.
lesson #1 was "do not accidentally discharge a missile when landing on a carrier."

lesson #2 was "the ground crew are idiots"

any tips on tracking down 7mm mauser clips? I ordered south american "brazillian maybe" clips off the internet and they do not work with the 7mm mauser my bonus dad gave me as a birthday present. Perhaps I am doing something wrong or are there specific european strippers? My m91 uses stripper clips to reload the inner magazine quickly and I have no problems with it's function. The mauser inner mag seems to need an "insertable" stripper clip? I can hand load it fine single shot. Is there a problem with my inner well spring or something or do I need a specific internal stripper?
sorry for the of-topic question.
