Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Shot in Arizona

U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was shot in the head during a public event in Tucson this morning. The Pima County sheriff told MSNBC Giffords is still alive but in very critical condition. A friend told the network the congresswoman was in surgery.

I was just watching this on FoxNews. Sounds like a bunch of bystanders tackled the guy who did this and he is in custody. Believe she was initially reported DOA, but there have since been reports from the hospital that she's currently in surgery and in critical condition.

Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was fatally shot in the head at close range by a gunman Saturday morning outside a grocery store in Tucson while holding a public event, Fox News has confirmed.

Eight others were shot, including three of the Arizona Democrat's aides, at Giffords' "Your Corner" event held at a Safeway grocery story. A suspect is in custody.

What a mess. She's a Blue Dog Democrat, starting her third term. Being that it's Arizona with all the ruckus there about immigration and guns lately makes me wonder what kind of political motivation might be behind this. Sick.

Watching FoxNews...they have a statement from some spokesman and the video says "Courtesy of KGUN", which is TV channel 9 in Tucson. That's strange.

The shooter is a 22 year old white male. AP reports the shooter's name as Jared Loughner

Latest, is she is responding to doctors commands, but still critical.. Docs are confident in her prognosis..,bullet was a through shot at temple area and exited cleanly out \,,,, A judge was killed it has been confirmed, Wonder what Jareds freaking problem is ??? Damn shame those people died and the Congresswoman was injured. No one should be injured or killed like this, ever.

Yes, this will have bad repercussions (AZ has sensible gun laws and that will be mentioned as a factor) for gun rights, probably from the federal level.

According to Fox someone did return fire. That is all they know.

And to make matters worse a 9 year old kid got killed by this walking bowel movement ."Giffords was among at least 10 people wounded, and the hospital said her outlook was "optimistic" and that she was responding to commands from doctors. The hospital said a 9-year-old child was among the killed, and a U.S. Marshal said a federal judge was also fatally shot in the attack" As I noted earlier just 5 minutes alone with the SOB....

5 minutes hell, there are processes that can make his pain last much longer.

May God bless and comfort all victims and loved ones involved.

They should have just shot the SOB right then and there. Save a lot of wasted taxpayer dollars that will be doled out for him.
