About the only website that looks safe on this is the CMP site. But I don't belong to any organization that would allow me to buy through the CMP, and neither does anybody at my pet FFL-holder.
Can somebody tell me how to access the CMP as a way to get a Garand that ain't junk and doesn't cost a war debt? - - - - or maybe somebody's got one they want shed of?

VCDL membership is cheap and they are CMP approved.
Are you looking for a shooter or a collectors piece?

If you want a shooter, CMP has those specials for around a $1k. They aren't 100% authentic, but the real war pieces are going for several times that.

Sir,
I have a CMP Garand for sale. It came with a new stock and I have had a new Criterion barrel added By Gus Fisher of Gus' Garands. Gus also did a trigger job on it and it is ready for the CMP John C. Garand matches. I am offerring it for $1000.00, which after shipping is less than the Special grade rifle offered by CMP. I also have eight spam cans of pre-clipped ammo that I'll include for $600.00. CMP sells this ammo for $96.00 + $8.95 shipping per can.
If you are interested, please call me at 540-455-3580.
R/s,
Charlie
