Well it's over, all in all a good year for me, I put some meat in the freezer, had some fun, and saw a lot of turkey.

I got three birds, my wife got two, so we did OK. I still have one tag from Va. that hasn't been filled, but you don't get your limit all the time.

I saw four hens and one gobbler today, no shot, out of range for my shotgun. I need to get one of those 3.5 inch shotguns, I haven't bought a new shotgun since the 70's, I think it was 72 to be exact, isn't that a bitch.

So here I sit drinking a little Dr. Jack and thinking about everything I did wrong this turkey season. I always do that, it's good to try to improve your hunting skills.

I actually think there are as many turkey as there are deer around here. I've been seeing deer every day, I came out of the woods at about 8:20 tonight and jumped two, could have shot one easy with a rifle, still had enough light to shoot.

But I digress, the season is over, we start again in October, I hope everyone had a good year.

I don't think I hunted 3 hours total Friday and yesterday. But at least I ended up with one bird. Now it's time to get a few groundhogs for the grill and catch up on some reloading. Bob if you buy a 3 1/2" , you can't go wrong with a Mossberg either 835 or 935. The only difference other than one is a semi-auto and the other is a pump and the pump does kick more. I know I have owned both, still have the 935.

Yes guys, it's over.... Did not think I was even giong to get to hunt this season... I had decided ,being a waterfowler that I'm a part time upland game hunter that i'd drop out of a deer club that I'd been a member of for several years. anyway, that's another story. So, having missed the first season I ran across a fellow ar work that had a small farm and said I could hunt it. So, the second Sat found me in Nottoway County in "Hot Pursuit". Did not hear anything gobble close enough to move on but did like what I saw. I found lots of sign so I know the turkeys were there. Managed to call in a kill a nice bird on the 3rd sat. 19 1/2 lbs. 10 " beard with 1" spurs. Worked another turkey the last week but did not get a shot and passed up on a jake hear and there. Save them for next year I hope. Anyway, that's my spring season in a nut shell. Hope you guys had fun too!

I've been looking at those Mossbergs real serious, I think thats what I'll be getting. I'm using an 1100 now and I like an auto loader so that 935 might be good for me.

cutcun sounds like you did pretty good for yourself going to a new piece of land, it's always good to get one.

Yea, more luck than anything, figured I'd be watchin the turkey killin on TV this spring. Def doesn't hurt to talk. Will be looking for a piece of turkey woods to hunt next spring.
