Does anyone know if there's a place in NOVA that does it?

I don't know of anyone that does camo dipping, but there are some options for D.I.Y.

What kind of rifle are you planning on doing this to?

I have a black .450 Bushmaster I bought for hunting and I'm kinda wishing I would've bought the camo version instead.

I like it too. It might be easier for you to just give me that one and go buy the camo version. Then we'd both be all set! :)

Thank you, guys! I absolutely love this gun. I debated between this, a .50 Beowulf, and a .458 SOCOM. I went with the .450 Bushmaster mostly because of ammo availability and price. Also, because it's a hunting gun, it has a bit better range than the Beowulf.

It's not too bad to shoot either - it kicks about the same as a 12 gauge, maybe a tad less.

I haven't ever used them and they aren't really in northern VA, but I did find:

Hanover is home to Greentop's, a Bass Pro and a Gander Mountain too. You could muti-task on the trip to check them out...

Krylon makes flat camo paint. It's not as scary as it sounds. Tape the holes up and everything else you don't want paint on it and get after it. I did it to my AR and it came out nice. Just do a quick Google search and there's a ton of info on prep and what not. It cost me about 10 bucks with supplies and paint.

I used the Krylon for my airsoft rifle. Posted a pic in another active thread. It works, but definitely isn't as durable as a camo dip which is much less durable than some of the spray on coatings.

One of the issues with Krylon is a very limited color palet.

You can't leave a post like that without picture.

So come on lets have it. :gunporn:

Rustoleum also makes camo paint. I think the Krylon is slightly better, but there isn't much difference between the two IMHO. Both are far inferior to real gun coatings.

In case you missed the Duracoat thread, I did this the camo spray paint. One of the issues is limited colors.

I did that with paper stencils. Just remember that good camo isn't perfect. It is cool to have a perfect camo job, but in reality "imperfections" here an there actually make it better. E.g. A little overspray blends colors or softens edges.

Yep, I saw that one and immediately asked my son where his airsoft AR was. He said "it's broke, why do you want it?". I told him that it was perfect for what I was wanting it for! I've got him interested in it now too.
