Virginia Gun Owners Forum - VGOF

Hello all, I recently started learning about firearms in a desire to protect my kids at home. I have a 9mm handgun and bought a Remington 870 tactical shotgun at the last Hampton gun show for home defense. I'm hoping to to hear from anybody who shoots at the Airfield Shooting Club in Wakefield as I need a reliable place to get trigger time after the new year. My wife wrapped up the shotgun right after I brought it home from the gun show.

There are lots of valid reasons to own firearms, yours is a good one. It sounds like you understand that the firearm is just a tool and you need to practice to build up the skill set to properly use the tool.

Congrats on the purchases. Do some searching and you should find a few threads which talk about shotgun/pistol ammo preferences.

We visit Smithfield once or twice a year. Even stayed at the mansion on Main once for our anniversary. I like that town.

Its a nice small town, even if the local govt is hellbent on watching all the small businesses shut down and wasting my property taxes, but hey what else is new.
