Selling Privately to Get Best Price....Just a Few Questions.

Ok, I'm selling my Glock 26 privately to get the best price, but I have a few questions to keep me safe and the buyer safe. Can I transfer the registration? If, not what steps do I need to take to keep me from getting arrested if my hand gun is used in a crime, hopefully it won't, just want to keep everybody safe. Any thoughts and opinions will be greatly appreciated.

There is no registration to transfer.
If you want a record of getting rid of the firearm, use one of the Bill of Sale forms from the other thread and have the buyer sign it. Include serial number of the firearm on the form and lock it in your gun safe for the rest of your life. If it's ever used in a crime, it could be several years or even decades from now.
Or, if it's used in a crime and you don't have a record of selling it, maybe you could just rely on your alibi and the fact that you had no motive.

I do a bill of sale with names and VA drivers' license numbers with a signed/dated statement that neither I nor the buyer are a commercial dealer in firearms.
You can ask for a CCW holder, but that cuts down your audience.

I'm a fan of using common sense and cash. Nothing else.

Couldn't he just make the sale at an FFL and have them do a transfer & background check (for a fee)
A legitimate buyer would not mind, and eating $32 for piece of mind is nothing.

Yes, he could. However, as a counter point, I'm legitimate and I mind. I've done BoS, but only for a really good deal. If it is marginal, I pass. No way am I forking over anything for a background check.

There's a bill of sale form on my website that I drafted in order to meet the needs you expressed. It's a pdf format document, so the best thing is to do a "save as" download to your hard drive, rather than trying to open it in a web browser. Read page 2, the instructions, which I think will answer your questions.

I am a former FFL dealer and I do the same way as above stated people altho I would use the form that User has made up if there was any question at all. But then again if there was ANY QUESTION I would not go through with the deal.

That is a very good document. I think I will use this if it is okay. I do have one question though, who is the importer? Since I have a Glock, would the importer then be Austria?

You don't need to worry about all of that. Keep it simple. Buyer and seller names and addresses, Gun information (manufacturer, model, serial #)
