Rules.

1. You have to use speedtest.net (puts everyone on a fair footing).
2. You have to post the actual URL image to prove authenticity.
3. Round 1 City is Johannesburg, South Africa.

Winner gets bragging rights.

Ok, gotta go back and re-run it, just noticed your city qualifications.

Ok, now to the correct city.

Are we suppose to be doing this from work or home?

Wow... 817 ping!

You should run it again. You can run it multiple times. Something is going on there with that ping!

Latency has always sucked for me at home -- suspect it's my old Toshiba cable modem. I used to work in the satellite communications arena where I got used to high latency and anything under a second for a double hop is tolerable.

I wonder if it would make much difference if I tried in the middle of the night?

You might get slightly better but latency is usually caused by number of hops and speed of network devices. High use periods usually cause latency at a server rather than the backbone unless its a real challenged environment like in a tactical AOR.
