Another NOVa Noob ...

Hello everyone ...
I've been a CCW holder since 1997 but have recently decided to further my shooting skills and learn how to reload.
I currently shoot:
Sig Sauer P229 in .40
I'm in the market for a Sig P245 if anyone has one for sale or that I could try out !
Rem 700 PSS .308
Fausti 12g O/U
Ruger 10/22 Archangel
I'm a member of the Quantico shooting club which is fun but you really have to make a day out of it.
I would like to find fellow shooter who might be able to teach me how to reload and/or teach me the basics of the clay discplines (trap, skeet, 5 Stand and Sporting Clays) ... I've only shot Wobble Trap.
I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Dave

Hi Dave. Welcome aboard! I was just looking up the Quantico club online a couple of days ago. Can you give us a run-down on the place from your perspective?

The Skinny on Quantico Shooting Club

The QSC is a group of shooters who have an agreement with the U.S. Marine Base @ Quantico.
www.quanticoshootersclub.com
Military (Active, Reserve, Retired) pay a yearly fee based on their rank
Civilians pay $80 a year
You have access to 2 main outdoor ranges
Range 1 out to 300 yards (covered hard shooting positions) up to .308 Win caliber
Range 4 out to 1000 yards (open soft shooting positions) up to .50 caliber
You must bring everything you need to shoot as there is no shop.
Target stands are usually available. Pistols are allowed on Range 1
You have access to 3 Shotgun Ranges
International Trap
Skeet
Wobble Trap
Clays are $3 round for members
Limited Guests are allowed to use facilities accompanied by a member. Guests pay a $10 daily fee to access the ranges and $5 for a round of clays.
The majority of members are gun savvy but I had seen some asshattery on the ranges. One time in particular I had to point out to the Range Safety Officer the some idiot was NOT paying attention to his son who was policing brass IN FRONT OF THE FIRING LINE while he was engrossed in shooting his Garand ... some fools should not be allowed to procreate, much less own a gun.

Thanks for the info bossgvr. Very informative.
The way I read the membership is that civilians who are government employees can join, but since I'm a contractor, that I would have to get onboard with a current member in order to join. Does that sound correct?

I think that may be the case ..... if you poke around their website you will see that part of their 'charter' is that their membership must be 2/3 military (active, reserve, retired). You should shoot them an eMail or give them a call during office hours to see if any Associate (Civilian) memberships are open right now. They are sticklers about keeping the 2 Military to 1 Civilian ratio ...

Their prices are definitely reasonable. Much more so than any other place I've looked at. Let me know what you decide to do.
I need to buy a couple more toys, too...
