Purchasing at NC Gun Show

Has anyone purchased a firearm at a North Carolina gun show? I'm planning on attending one in December and I wanted to know what restrictions there are and what process I would have to go through.

As a resident of VA, you would have to have the selling FFL transfer it to a VA FFL. You can not purchase a firearm across state lines, only a FFL can perform that transaction. Once the firearm arrives at the VA FFL, you must then fill out paperwork and then the transfer can occur.

As you're shopping around at the gun show, don't forget to ask the vendor how much they charge for transfers. I've seen fees ranging from $20 to $50. You don't want to be surprised by a high transfer fee after you have made a deal on the gun.
Also, contact your VA FFL ahead of time. This will help speed up the process with the seller in N.C.

Isn't there a difference as to how long guns and handguns are handled in an interstate transaction such as this?
I suppose it depends on whether you buy from a private seller or an FFL dealer.

There is. Long guns can be purchased out of state IF the laws of your resident state are followed. And no FFL transfer is required.
