I don't. I'm generally of the opinion that if I can't solve a problem in 8 rounds, I probably can't solve it at all. Plus that more stuff on my belt, one more thing that could get caught on something. However carrying one extra magazine isn't that big a difference. Just wondering what other peopleare doing.

I carry one magazine of 13 rds. and a flashlight in a paddle style double holder. Sometime depending on the wardrobe, I will use a single holder that clips on the belt and like a paddle is easily removed if necessary.

Out here in the boonies, I usually carry my Judge. I guess I'm an old fashioned, behind the times wheeler. When I'm out and about and my Judge is with me, I carry a coupla' rounds of .410 X 2.5 #6 shot and a coupla' extra rounds of .45 Colt loaded with 230 gr. JHPs in my pocket.
Even when I "go to town" and carry my Ruger 345, I don't carry an extra mag. I just don't feel that I need it. As silly as this sounds, I might drop a coupla' extra rounds of hardball in my pocket. No particular reason, it's just an odd habit I started years ago and still do it.

Always. I don't expect to actually need more than 8 rounds, but guns & magazines jamb. I like the comfort provided by having a backup magazine, just in case.

That said, I'm feeling more and more these days that in the (rare) event I'll need a gun, it's going to be to get me and my family out of a multiple shooter situation, be it a mall attack by terrorists or other nutjob, or, more likely given the mood of the Country, an attack on a Christian place of worship. For that more rounds are better.

Carry spares.

My thoughts too recently. Perhaps that one-liner saying you can't have too much ammunition unless you are swimming or on fire has more merit than I've given it in the past.

Two 7 round mags for the Compact 1911, in a Galco holder.

I don't feel the need to carry an extra here in the sticks. But if I'm going to Richmond I'll carry at least two extra mags, more depending on the area I'm going in.

If I am gonna go through all the trouble of concealing a handgun, I might as well carry at least one extra mag.

Nope, no extra magazines - just the two I've already got loaded that I carry for reloading.

Hell I carry an extra gun and extra mags for both in my truck.

No extras, just two 7-rounders in a Milt Sparks mag holder IWB for my compact M1911 that has 8 rounds in it. Yeah, I could put other stuff on my belt, but none of it would save my family from criminals and psychopaths. I may never need all that ammunition, but then I pray that I'll never need my firearm yet carry it all the time. It's about insurance, not comfort or convenience.

For the SS series 80 there's one in the gun and 4 spares (2 each in 2 pouches).
For the P14, just the one in the gun and one spare.
For the Springfield 1911A1 there's one in the gun and 2 in one pouch (this one's in a shoulder holster with the pouch under the opposite arm.

I carry 2 magazines the magazine in the gun and then 1 other magazine. I typically carry a Glock 19 loaded with 16 rounds of 147gr +P Federal HST and my back up magazine is loaded with 17 rounds of 147gr +P Federal HST.

I carry a back up because magazines are the most common failure point on most modern weapons, so I want to be able to fix any problem that may arise caused by the magazine. Another reason I carry a back up is I see the largest threat being an engagement involving multiple people so I would like to have the added comfort of an additional magazine. My third main reason for carrying a back up magazine is if I ever do end up having to use my weapon to protect myself or someone I care about, I want to have a fully loaded gun while I wait for responders to arrive and secure the scene.

Depends on where I'm going...around here I carry a .45 double stack and extra mag for 21 rounds...seriously been thinking about throwing my AR with several mags in the back of my truck...just in case. But because of where I work it could cause some serious issues if ever discovered so...

With a 1911, I usually do as 8 rounds might not be enough against a group of attackers. Especially, if the 30% hit rule is true (i.e. 70% of LE shots fired are misses). With higher capacity guns I usually don't, but their mags are much thicker too and harder to conceal.

Thankfully I haven't had to be put to the test and hopefully I never will.

Shooting moving targets who are trying to kill you while you are moving is not easy.

I keep an extra mag when I go out as insurance against a magazine/ammo failure or mass zombie attacks. If I'm carrying my SP101, I have two speed loaders with me in a pocket, as they aren't very big.

As for DK, why not snag a KelTec Sub2000 and some long Glock mags? That folds up and fits right into a back pack and the 33 round 9mm mags should be sufficient for headshots inside 100 yards.
