I bet I have had a dozen or so of the recorded phones trying to scrounge for votes from the repubs today. I thought when you signed up on the do not call list that it included calls from political groups too. If you don't answer the phone or the answering machine picks up they just call back later. I voted last week, wonder if I can change it ?

Just vote again.

Indeed...vote early and vote often. Encourage your deceased friends and relatives to do the same...

Of course. Politicians naturally exempted themselves from the law.

Too true - the Do Not Call Registry is only about commercial solicitations from people with whom you've never done business. Very limited.

And apparently, Frank Wolf thinks that he can simply harass me with recordings on my telephone, and that's going to make me vote for him. I don't know who's running against him, but I'm thinking of voting for that guy as a "none of the above" vote, mainly because of those bogus 'phone calls.

§ 18.2-429. Causing telephone to ring with intent to annoy.

Any person who, with or without intent to communicate but with intent to annoy any other person, causes any telephone or digital pager, not his own, to ring or to otherwise signal, and any person who permits or condones the use of any telephone under his control for such purpose shall be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor.

I figure that they know those calls are annoying; they do not intend to have a conversation (because there's no one on the other end of the line for me to talk to); and thus they are causing my telephone to ring with "intent to annoy". Calling me with knowledge that I will be annoyed by the call constitutes "intent to annoy".

Anyone who wants my vote to be put in a position of great trust should at least have sense enough not to commit crimes on a small scale. There seem to be a lot of Republican incumbents who don't seem to get the fact that they're the ones who put Obama in office. Reactionary big government-system guys who have no more respect for the Constitution than the democrats are a bigger threat than socialism. I want conservative candidates I can vote for!
