Well even though I already own a few AR;s ,the bug to build another has bit and here are the base parts, 5.56 NATO ,Should be a nice shooter when complete.. my reasoning for the build was, Hell I don;t have one like this yet!! I'm so easy!

One of these days I want to try my hand at building one. I know from a lot of posts on here that I probably will not save any money by building one, I just think that it would be cool to own a gun that I assembled myself.
In the mean time, I'm going to envy you and your latest build!

Once you do get to build one...Buying a ready made pales by comparison. I was hooked the minute I started work on my first one (M4) You save a littte money but that gets offset by tools and miscellanous when you get started, Mostly tools for the uppers,After building a few they start to be cost efficient because you can eliminate the tools needed and have searched the Internet far and wide for deals on parts...

It's like a Light Saber - every true Jedi has to build his own.

It's looking pretty good, where did you luck into finding the FN M16A2 barrel? They can be pretty hard to come by. I always had better luck with them at the range than a rifle with a Colt barrel.

There was a feller by the screenname gunrunner on here and VA gun Forum...He had a few that he was selling along with some uppers, and a ton of parts,,, He still has some A2 FN Uppers and some flat top uppers but no more barrels (damn) I wanted to grab a few more myself,,

I took it out today and put 80 rounds down the tube,,No problems at all...All good shots and the gun functioned flawlessly, I got to test the D Fender
http://www.mgimilitary.com/store/index. ... ducts_id=4 ejection enhancer and it really tosses the brass out better than without one, I shot at 25 yds as that is the longest at the range and its a good range to do it at IMHO... First 3 shots were low and right,,,A few clicks and a turn of the front sight and the next 3 went in just a little left of Dead center,,,, It proved to be a good day and the new rifle has earned its place in the safe. I am gonna do a tactical carbine next with a free float picatinny rail and a few of the good attachments out there. Then I gotta give the AR's a rest and start looking at the M1's and AK's a little closer,,
