Dem Candidate to Veteran: Military Service Isn't Public Service

Twenty-four years in the military doesn't count as public service, at least according to Virginia Democratic Congressman Jim Moran.

In a video that's gone viral online, Moran is heard telling a Democratic gathering earlier this month that his opponent, Republican Patrick Murray, is just another unqualified GOP candidate.

"What [Republicans] do is find candidates, usually stealth candidates, that haven't been in office, haven't served or performed in any kind of public service," Moran said. "My opponent is typical, frankly."

The trouble is, Murray is a retired Army colonel with 24 years of service--including combat in Iraq. The idea that such an extensive military record doesn't qualify as "public service" has left a sour taste in Murray's mouth.

Perhaps CongressCritter Moran should consider a name change? It'll only require changing one letter - I'm just sayin'...

Even IF, why is that a bad thing? Somebody without experience in office can't screw things up any worse.

I am sickened and saddened by this type of behavior. Sooner or later God will show up...recall the great flood and Sodom... the stench became so bad that God felt compelled to step in...

Wow...just, wow....

This is the kind of arrogance you get when you've been in power for too long. It's clearly time for Mr. Moran to do like J. C. Watts and Jesse Ventura did and go back to the private sector.

What do you think the approval rating of Congress, the President, any Governer or State House if all they did was pass a balanced budget, begin revoking the previous clowns bills and nothing else? No, it wouldn't solve all of the worlds problems, but it would start solving our two biggest problems...government corruption and cohersion. I'd bet it would be way higher than it is now...increasing liberty is always a winning strategy!

Was Moran ever in the private sector?
